How does this work exactly? I kinda confused.
I understand that it's like we buy them the store credit that can only be used in their site. But what is the 1 in 5 packs that they said it contain bonus game?

Somehow the link doesn't show on my PC: https://www.greenmangaming.com/credit-hacks

from the sounds of it, its basically a dumb scam to get you to turn your valuable money that can be spent anywhere, into gmg credits that can only be used on gmg. they do this by saying give us money and we'll give you the same value in credit, BUT theres a tiny chance that when you take us up on this dumb offer, that we'll give you a free bundle shitty game for free as a bonus.

Well, 20% is not a tiny chance and the game doesn't seem to be shitty, but the general picture you paint is correct. :)

I bought 3 of the $5 packs (was buying a $15 game anyway), and I got no bonus games. Boooo.

Has anyone tried buying 5 credit hack packs for $5 each? If you did has it actually given you Ballistic Overkill 6 pack since it supposedly advertised you get a 20% chance.

semeicardia already explained it.
Buying 5 packs does not guarantee you getting a game.
You still have 20% chance youll get a game per pack.

1 in 5 packs contain the game. But you could still get 7 that dont. Or you could get it for the second pack you purchase...

Would have been nice if they just did this internally, so if you buy a $30 game they automatically roll the 20% chance 6 times instead of you having to buy six $5 packs.

they don't want you to buy games tho, they want you to add credit.

yeah i guess but then again, from a business standpoint this makes sense. If you would buy the $30 game, they would've earned their profit already. However, this "promo" is enticing the people that weren't planning to spend money.

Basically another scam. Give us $ and maybe you'll get a bonus... this should be illegal.

Why do you call that a scam? You buy some credits for GMG and have a chance to get a free game.

Anything with a random chance is now a scam. The hate on lootboxes grew out of control.

They have these "mistery" games distributed for a long time, and it's all been pure TRASH, IMHO

I always (mis)read these promos as "misery games" for some reason.

By the way, these are the critical acclaims on the main page for the game:

"| "It's insane, fast paced, and action packed in a way that's fun, and tactical." Spifferino, Steam User
"Can be enjoyed by both casual and competitive gamers." Skyrunes, Steam User" |"

The reviews.

But honestly, I don't see much difference between better-than-average user reviews and most of media outlets.

Well, this to me just shows that they're lacking to have 3 positive reviews about them, so they go for random Steam reviews.
The third one was a slightly more professional person. He was in some magazine or whatever.

It's not a random game or mystery game. It's a 20% chance to win Ballistic Overkill. It says so on their site when you buy it.

With the purchase of this title, you will receive vouchers for your Credit, and potentially Ballistic Overkill!
