Ah, that's nice! I think there's a possibility that you'll get the game now, especially with things like Project Astoria and Project Islandwood.

Kodak arrive later to the digital cameras and got bad financials, Nintendo has a lots of money but they keep slowpoking their bussines in their own consoles and characters. Until now, i hope when i go to work not everybody wants a pokemon battle.

Well yeah I know. I don't even care if it's augmented reality or not. I just think it'd be cool to just walk about catching pokemon as you go!

That already exists. I haven't had good experiences with it through... not enough people around me playing it to have fun and it requires too much traveling. Since it's from the same creators I'm suspecting the Pokemon game will be something similar but instead of "Portals around buildings and landmarks of historic or architectural significance" we will have "Pokemon farm zones around parks or certain tourist areas".

Trip around the world to capture rare pokemons? It looks pay2win.

But you know, imagine they make Mew only spawn at amazon forest in Brazil, or Dragonite only spawn at Australia, people with more money could travel there and get it.
They would sell for at least 150% the price of the whole trip and would create a grey market of pokemons all around the world. The pokemons would be so expensive that people would kidnap the people who travel to get pokemons, so they would resell the pokemons for 50% the price of grey market, creating a black market.
Therefore, this game will increase criminality all around the world, costing hundreds of lives and possibly destroying families.

So basically if i dont have mobile internet im fucked?

It SHOULDN'T be necessary, as location doesn't require internet per se. So they could make it work without internet, but for some things (group battle, versus battle), you'd probably need to connect somehow... And depending on what they're trying to achieve, internet might also be a must.

Also, for countries like mine (Brazil) with high crime rates, we won't be able to fully enjoy playing it as having your cell phone out in the open increases the risk of getting robbed. :P
We've the exact same problem here in Egypt. Infact,I got robbed in the elevator of the building where i live three years ago.

it sounds very interesting, but i hope they made it so that you can play 'cloud storage/phone storage' just so it doesnt require internet connection all the time (dont want to pay alot of money for being on a foreign internet connection and having my own provider sucking me dry.)

I'll probably download this around 2 hours, 22 minutes and 16 seconds after it is released. At least this is my plan at this moment.

I like to have a precise plan. Probably that's why I like pokemon games. I can plan which pokemon should I breed, and which EV to train while leveling and preparing right moveset.
I also like the fact that my 8 year old cousin managed to complete main story in fireRed with 6 pikachu team, all of them named "poop".

I'm kinda hyped for this! Really curious how it will turn out :)

I will be a doubting Thomas and take a shot on predictions: No events, promo codes and such for places outside North America, Japan, UK and maybe Germany.
So don't worry, you won't get mugged for your phone as it will be lacking content to keep you playing it in the first place.
I wish I am wrong. :')

Not really, you can spend hundred(s) of hours with any main Pokémon game, without ever turning on the wi-fi. Let's say 80% of the gameplay is open. And even with the region-exclusive stuff you can find someone to trade via just wi-fi.
But if it works for ingress it should work for Pokémon as well. I'm concerned just because Nintendo has a history of keeping me from stuff. T_T murk not being eligible to become a member of Club Nintendo 2014 never forget </3

Yeah, but I guess it works for the main markets they're aiming at.
And, well, yeah... But, honestly, I think it's a little stupid if people go into a lake while following a GPS. :P It's supposed to work like a map, a guide. Not something for you to drive solely looking at it. But I've seen similar problems, like people going into recently changed roads that changed directions and causing issues, or going into heavily dangerous area (dominated by criminals) and getting shot and stuff. :/

It's a lot of fun. You choose one of two teams when you start playing, and various real-world locations are "portals" that you can capture for your team if you're physically near them. I know people who live out in the middle of nowhere don't get the same experience, since there are far fewer interesting places out there so there are fewer portals to fight over. If you're in an urban area, or visit one often, there's plenty to do fighting against the other team.
It also encourages socialization, because you need to get 8 high-level players from one team together to build a portal to the highest level, which means you wind up making plans to walk around the city with a bunch of geeks while you're all staring at your phones. But if you have a cool group of people, you're also going to combine that with hanging out, eating, and drinking. Our team is much more fun than the other team in my area, from what I've seen. :)

EDIT: It's out, but it seems it's not available everywhere. Initially only US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. But you can play if you get the APK somewhere.
Thanks perrolijo for the heads up:
How come this is not here yet?
Check the news here and the direct link for the trailer here.
It's basically a F2P game for Android and iOS that uses geolocation, and is also meant to be played with others out there. There's also an accessory that'll allow you to know when a Pokemon is around (by vibrating) and do basic commands like throwing a pokéball to capture it. They'll probably make money by selling pokéballs or something...
Also, for countries like mine (Brazil) with high crime rates, we won't be able to fully enjoy playing it as having your cell phone out in the open increases the risk of getting robbed. :P
BTW, is that background on the phone screen at the end a real place? It doesn't look like to me, but I've read that it'll use augmented reality...
