Now in the past I, along with others, have made topics about you favorite games. The types you like and love.

But lets go in a different direction now, and you will also see just how half awake I am while posting this. >_<

What kinds of games so you like the least? The kinds you don't want to buy. Hell, the kinds you never even want to see on your steam or SG giveaways.

I, myself, have no interest in visual novels after trying a few. They are just boring to me. I'd rather sit with a physical book in my hands (which I LOVE to do over readers), RTS games are also not my cup of tea. And as much as I love rpg's, even the old SNES days style ones, I am sick and tired of seeing those RPG maker games.
Edit- I forgot to mention that I HATE tower defense games also.

Sports Games (with exclusion of racing games) ;p I dislike sports in real life, why would I spend time pretending I'm playting sports on computrer? ;p

What about Skate/snowboarding games? I recently played Steep, and found it heaps of fun.

good point, I totally forgot about these and I had shitload of fun with Tony Hawk Pro Skater as a kid, so I'd say definetelly yes, but I find them to be more of an action games than a sports games ;) By sports games I meant all kind of repetitive match-based sports, you are playing same stuff, on same fields (just with different surroundings), with same rules over and over again. Be it soccer, football, basketball or tennis. Things like skating, snowboarbing etc - you usually go on very different tracks, perform different tricks every time etc. It doesn't get boring nor repetitive thanks to that :) And same goes for racing games - different races and tracks all the time :)

I only played one sport game, a Fifa game a decade ago, but it was actually a lot of fun. While the field and rules are the same, each match was pretty different and I had to do different things each time.

But I'm sure it helped that I actually enjoy playing soccer in real life. If it was baseball or american football or wrestling or something like that, I'd probably not enjoy it nearly as much.

I've had two friends in highschool who were heavilly into FIFA, so a played quite a lot of it, and it was boring as fuck for me ;p And it's not like I don't understand the rules, we played a lot of soccer in PE classes, but it was simply repetitive and I hated it, both real life and video game version ;p

Well, I played a single season against the AI where I totally dominated, so we may have had very different experiences. If I was playing against someone who was super into FIFA, I'd probably have a poor experience too.

And I think almost everything in PE class is a bad experience. I love tennis, I was on my high school's tennis team, and I still hated tennis in PE class. :)

It's not about getting my ass kicked, even against AI Id get bored after 2-3 matches, same field, same rules, same thing happening all the time over and over again - that's a problem for me, not whether I win or not ;p

I like sports in real life, so why would I spend time on a computer simulation instead of playing that sport with other people?

time-constraint?
getting more familiarised with the technical aspects?
getting more familiarised with the rules?
injuries?

I understand your point, though a lover of sports could enjoy playing/watching or simulating..

who said I would? I said that person like me hating sports would not like them in video games, such statement is not equal to saying person loving sports would love them in video games. Sorry if such a simple logical structure is too hard for your brain to comprehend xP

i must say if compared with my friends i'm very "lucky" because of i can save more money because i like only
Dynamic Adventures,Arcades about Beat'em up,Side Scrolling,Fps,Platforms,Point and Click (but not must be so much short)...
so i not need buy more games...
Not only this but at this genre then i apply a second filter i buy and play this genre only when and if they have one of this:
-Innovative or beautiful gameplay
-Stealth (tenchu,sekiro,aragami etc.)
-Games that is not stealth but include Stealth move (also farcry or middle earth shadow of war then would be ok...)
-Beautiful Storytelling
-Exploration for see beautiful enviroments
-intelligent use of Physics
-Colorful or Happy
-Relaxing
-Slow games , for slow games i mean most of time i like games that enable me to explore or plan or attack enemy with calm without put hurry to me , because in my life already i must always to run for help others so at least when i play want to play by taking my time

i not like and not buy all others (Jrpg,Visual Novel,Sports,Racing, tower defense,Fighting,Strategy,Simulators,Airplanes,Japanese RPG like final fantasy, run and get coin only, hidden object, puzzle, fast games based on action only shoot enemy etc without stealth\story\take object with the only exception of serious sam that i like because of the comic style same as for duke nukem forever remake too)
Not only this but 90% of time i don't buy
-Sad\Frustrating\Hard games (and i don't know why most of time 70% of japanese games is like this so i'm not a big fan of japanese games)
-Space\Horror\Zombie\Robot\Cartoon\Hentay games
-Games with so much dark or grey colors , games based on dark shadows view (most of time these are horror)
-Game with "Countdown-Time" or where there is time to wait for play
-Game where can't FULL move the character (or movement is limited to only go room)
-Game with Lootboxes,Microtransactions,Fifapoints etc.
-MP games without storytelling single player campaign (except that the game have a very new and original gameplay)
The only exception right now is Astroneer\Elite\Elite Dangerous (that yes is about space but i not know why i like)
and Dying Light (that yes is about zombie but i not know why i like)
but all other games about space or horror looks like copy of these or is low quality that i not like... so i not buy...

i like so much deus ex,prey, farcry etc. because have good storytelling, amazing physics and stealth too so games like this is perfect for me like a dream

Reason why i not like horror\sad\zombie games is not because i scared ( i can assure you i'm last human in world can scared to fight something or stay on dark\bad situations) but is the fact that sadly in my life i must to see more bad things and help more poor people so at least when i play and relax i want to see something that is happy, cute, colorful etc.

And before to buy a game i check very well if game will have DLCS\SEASONS in future i will NOT buy , i wait instead 1 or 2 years then buy it because i very hate to buy incomplete games , i prefer to buy the game when is selled with all the contents dlcs\season etc. included, because i had a bad experience with destiny,i buy the game and the season pass, but then devs release other "Season" and ask to pay other money, not only this but then when destiny 2 is out they just not care about old customers of destiny 1 so i really don't have like this.

I can buy btw "incomplete" games for others for giveaways on SG is ok.. because i know people would be happy to receive it as a gift BUT i will never buy for me.

And i have a big problem with steam about this, because i can't apply "Filter" for example for "horror" tag because for example this tag is apply also at games that i not horror (for example like prey or farcry that i like etc.) , so i think videogames industry must to be + specific and have + genre differentiate about these , because now videogames industry use so much "global\general" tag so these are unuseful.

i also hate visual novels and point and click games. i cant stand these type of games. there is basically zero interaction or movement. as a kid i went to the local library and got these point and click games and kind of liked it. but now after seeing so many great games with fantastic gameplay elements these type of games got pretty fast stale and boring. like i was sensory deprivated after experiencing so many good games.

I dislike strategy, horror/survival, management/clickers, and rogue-like games.

I like games with a story and a defined ending the most, so whether that is a FPS, a sidescroller, a P&C, a VN, or 3rd person action game, I'm likely interested.

Sports, racing, bullet-hell, beat-em-up, and arena games are a general no. Just not interested. Once in a while something special may come along, but for the most part? No.

I actually don't really like platformers, and I suck at them, though I generally do try and sort of enjoy Metroidvania and narrative platform games. It's always a push-pull. Some of them are beautifully put together and satisfying. But what's with all the jumping?

Ditto, especially for extremely realistic simulators, like Arma, Assetto Corsa and Raceroom. I get that some people like to challenge themselves in a realistic scenario without pesky problems like, you know, actually dying, but i just can't find them fun in any way. Besides, i can just (and already did) bring my car to an actual track during an open track day.

There's no genre or type of game that I dislike categorically.

I can't think of a genre in which I can't name at least one game which I've enjoyed greatly on some level, and which I think I can enjoy again if given the right combination of topical interest, mechanics, and artistry. I do go through phases in which certain genres appeal more than others, but I'm generally very open to the possibility of something blowing my socks off even if it's in a genre which is lower on my current "hotlist".

  • MMOs. I’ve tried a few but none have ever clicked. I prefer to play solo anyway, which is understandably not what MMOs cater for!

  • Fighting games. Just don’t have the reflexes or ability to memorise combos.

  • Physics games (Surgeon Simulator and co). I find them more frustrating than entertaining.

  • Bullet hell.

I'm not interested in MMO, multiplayer, co-op, car racing games, puzzles, visual novels, dating sims, sports simulators and work simulators like a car mechanic or driver of anything.

But while 100% of MMO and multiplayer games are not for me, 99% co-op are not for me but I love to play Borderlands with my real life friends.
Also 95% racing games are not for me but I love Carmageddon games and Destruction Derby.
Also 95% puzzles are not for me but sometimes I find some puzzles I enjoy like Glass Masquerade.
100% of visual novels and dating sims are not for me.
100% of sports simulators and work simulators are not for me but I would love to play a tank simulator so I can only drive a tank on war and destroy other tanks and repair mine between missions.

I also don't like many platformers but if it is a platformer where you have a gun and you can kill enemies and level up yourself and your weapons I like that type of platformers (like Cally's Caves series).

I also don't like 100% of build your hut/castle something games but I don't know how is this genre called.

I also don't like most management games/symulations but I liked a few like This War of Mine and i want to get all the Holy Potatoes! games because of humor and how well they are made and also to get Frostpunk.

I also like beat 'em ups but I don't like fighting games because I prefer to go from stage to stage vs many enemies than to go 1 vs 1 all the time.

Also 100% VR are not for me.

Point and click and hidden objects are also not for me.

I laso don't like horror games where you have no way of defending yourself (Amnesia etc.) or you can't kill enemies only scare them off (like Alien: Isolation) but I love if I can fight back like Bioshock or System Shock games or Resident Evil I-VI (not VII).

Games with nudity and sexual content are also 100% not for me (if game is based on that).

Also all the 5k achivements shits are not for me because these are just bad games that gives you achivements that are worth nothing and makes all your hard earned achivements also mean nothing.

I also hide all Early Access games if they were an Early Access for 2 years or more and never got out of Early Access.
