Well, in these days of so called short url expanders, I don't think that short urls pose any risk for steamgifts users anymore. For example, if you use Check Short Url website from the following link to reveal the real link hidden behind the shortened url posted by OP, you will indeed notice the ref part of it even without visiting his link directly. Of course you can repeat this with every shortened link you find. It's always better to take precautions than be sorry later.

Yeah, but the use of those are against the rules, that's all. Of course they are no real threat, but not everybody checks a short URL before clicking it.

Well, obviously if you know a website you'll know if it could potentially hold something harmful or not.
For shortened links use the website MrFutureHope mentioned, otherwise I don't click them as well, because noone would use them normally.

there should be option to rate the threads. After few negatives it is closed and only mod can open it again. of course details needed to be discussed: fals reports = suspension, reporting only from highier levels etc

I like this idea better than hiding threads of people i've blacklisted.
idk if it would work though, besides, there are some people that like testing their grounds with joke threads, you might end up closing a thread with hidden ga´s

In 0.3.0 beta just remove Line 18, Col 23391-23413 (Line 921, Col 302-324 in pretty print) >>font-weight: initial;<< and it will use the bold attribute of the username. (alternatively change initial to bold)
Also, add >>font: 12px Arial, sans-serif, bold<< to change the font of the tag or its attributes.
