RUSE in CDA (question answered)

That's a question to my fellow countrymen, but maybe someone abroad knows. I have a key for RUSE which came with CD-Action magazine, but I have no idea if it's region locked. I looked into databases, but couldn't find anything conclusive, and I'm not really willing to risk making a giveaway. Can anyone confirm if it's region locked?

I've been wanting to win Ruse, so I've seen a lot giveaways from CDA lately, and each and every one of them had people stating in the comments that it's region locked, so I assume it is, not 100% sure though.

people like to call out any game from CDA region locked - happened with every single title that was previously in a magazine, inluding ones that were never locked.

I saw someone not from Poland that won RUSE and didn't complain so I guess it's not region locked.

Found a couple of days old ruse giveaway, the winner did confirm it and he's from Spain so I think you should be fine, link to giveaway.

I found another one, where the giveaway maker confirmed that he indeed got the key from CDA and the winner is Russian. So looks like I found my answer.

There are no region-locked version in the Steam Database, so I'd guess it's safe to assume the game isn't region-locked.

Which database? I relied on CDR database when I checked restrictions on GoT and it turned out I screwed up back then.

Thanks for this resource! If I understand it correctly, region locking can be determined in the "Packages" area?

I used Dead Island as an example to test my wits, since I know it has region locking. Comparing it to R.U.S.E., I think I'm looking in the right area... Let me know otherwise.

Yes, the package is the one determining the region-lock. "PurchaseRestrictedCountries" will tell you where the game can be activated.

Thanks for following up. Sadly I do not see "PurchaseRestrictedCountries" on any games that I've browsed. Still using Dead Island as an example, which I know has locks on it, I don't see this tag.

Well no matter, it's not a piece of information I need in any case. It's just cool to see, knowledge is power and all that! Haha

Once you've clicked on the "Packages" tab, make sure you click on "Search" again to actually make a search on them. (Kinda confusing as it doesn't do it automatically)

You can see the PurchaseRestrictedCountries tag inside the individual packages:
Dead Island (RU)
Dead Island (NA/Row)

I won a giveaway and the Polish key I was sent didn't work. It worked for the giveaway creator later though, so I'd say they are indeed region-locked.

Doesn't bode very well, but it seems strange that it isn't locked just to Poland, if the links above are to be believed. Worst case scenario, if it turns out it does have region lock, I'll buy the game from Steam store and let everyone know about the problem.

There could be other source, but since there is only one entry for a R.U.S.E key in the Steam Database I'd be very surprised to hear that any of them would be region-locked.

Now that I think about it, when did you win it? Issue of CDA with RUSE came out on June 4th. If you won it earlier, it must be from somewhere else.
