I'm doing a paper for school, but I would like to know in the world of video cards brands there are only AMD and NVIDIA?

No. Many more like Sis, 3DFX and Matrox.
Google/Wikipedia are your friends.

There were more, but currently I know only: Intel (discrete GPU), AMD & Nvidia.

Don't forget onboard and cpu integrated (like intel's integrated gpu in the cpu). For gaming purposes, it's mainly Nvidia and AMD, with a bit of Intel.
