=͟͟͞͞( っ'Θ')╮ =͟͟͞͞Will Steam be playable on Chrome OS?
It was something I raised recently as well.
Please take it as a reference.

Well, steam working on linux for quite some time, and they did a lot to allow starting many games on linux PCs. ChromeOS is based on linux kernel, so it should be as easy as bundling some missing dependencies to start Steam on it. Of course chromebooks won't be enough to play many games by itself, maybe only a bunch of most light-weight ones, BUT there are things like "remote play together" on steam, and I guess even chromebook should be enough to play remotely with someone hosting the game on "real" PC. So, overall it may be actually useful for chromebook users.

It's a bit odd seeing those high requirements on Chrome OS when Steam can run on a potato on Windows. But I'm mostly intrigued if they'll ever offer support for Chromebooks with ARM hardware, considering that as far as I know there's no games available on Steam compiled for that architecture, if they ever plan to have a compatibility layer to run x86 programs on ARM it'd open the door for Stream coming to Android at some point in the future.

Perhaps there is a critical security hole in the hardware of older computers and there is a plan to sell them at a discount to encourage people to replace them all at once.
If you are talking about Chrome or Google, you may not be aware of this.
Maybe it's like why Microsoft's Windows 11 needs TPM 2.0 or why every household on the planet except Russia must be provided with a new PC with the necessary wartime security updates.
By the way, sunny today, sometimes ICBMs.
It looks like a gift from the former Soviet Union, but I feel the negative legacy of history piling up.

If cloud gaming starts to get better, yea. Gamepass works pretty well on phones so, it's likely to be better overall.

"Can you imagine playing AAA titles on your Chromebook? It might not be as far off as you think.
Chromebook gaming isn't what it could be. Let's face it; Chromebook gaming isn't really a thing at all. Chromebooks are known for their productivity chops, not pushing the latest AAA title to the limit.
However, a statement and slide shown during the Google for Games developer summit set tongues wagging worldwide with the news that Steam is coming to Chrome OS, bringing the world's biggest gaming platform to Chromebooks at last.
Google's announcement came somewhat as a shock to the world of Chromebook users and, indeed, gamers. Speaking at the Google for Games developer summit keynote, Google product director Greg Hartrell said, "The Steam alpha just launched, making this long-time PC game store available on select Chromebooks for users to try.
Hartrell even encouraged users to go forth and explore the new Chromebook community forum dedicated to Steam's Chrome OS launch. Except, there was nothing to be found when they got there, and it appears the surprise announcement was just that.
The Steam to Chrome OS community page now features an actual statement detailing a very rough outline.
As you may have already heard, our team is working with Valve to bring Steam to Chrome OS. We are very excited to share that we’ll be landing an early, alpha-quality version of Steam on Chrome OS in the Dev channel for a small set of Chromebooks coming soon. Please come back to the forum for more information!
So, When Is Steam Coming to Chrome OS?
As per the community message, you'll be waiting a while longer for Steam's extensive gaming library to appear on Chrome OS.
When Steam finally makes the jump to Chrome OS, it'll launch to a very small number of users, exclusively to the Chrome OS Dev channel. Until then, you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for more announcements regarding Steam on Chrome OS."
