Are you excited to play with your new choices like a kid after getting a new toy?

View Results
[Recurring subscription] Getting the choices has become a routine by now and Iā€™m not usually overly excited about them, but this bundle feels like a win for me.
[New subscription, Steam] Regardless of the overall complaints, Humble still consistently brings light on less popular yet good games that otherwise wouldnā€™t get any attention.
[Maybe subscribe] With Fanaticalā€™s recent BundleFest offering competitive deals, Iā€™m not sure where to place my money.
[Pause / Backlog] After 1-2 good months, it was a given that the quality abruptly decreased.
[Cancelling / will not buy] What a fiasco the Choice turned into! Not much from the monthly packs fits my taste any more.

Panzer Paladin! Also Civ 6 Platinum, Ikenfell, Going Under and Stubbs. Not the strongest lineup but not a weak one either, IMO.

I think the bundles have been pretty good overall the past six months or so, but this one does not live up to that standard, at least for me. There's only one game I would potentially want added to my backlog (Effie).

This is a nice grab bag of small indie titles I'd seen before and thought were interesting, but never pulled the trigger on, and that's exactly what I want from HB.

Though I could do with out the 1 key being some other launcher. Specially if it's on Steam. The Choice would have been nice.
I also get people who don't feel it's worth it cause of the 2 re-bundles from prior monthlies.

I do not like that choice, took some games, just cause I had to choose something as I paid for, just cause if I skip or cancel, Humble would cancel my newsubscriber sale :/

anybody know how to giveaway this CIV6 pack here? There is no option instead of CIV6 base game

Comment has been collapsed.

The package will not be added to SG because it's not sold on the Steam Store. You can give this away as the base game only (people who need the DLCs will not be able to enter), or as one of the DLCs (in which case only people who have the base game can enter).

No, it is not sold as a single package. That is a store bundle that is personalized for your account (complete-the-set) and contains 9 separate packages inside: https://steamdb.info/bundle/12218/

So what you are saying is someone can really create a giveaway for one of the higher CV giving DLCs and give the Humble Choice Key. Wouldn't that break some rules?
I'm not trying to cheat or suggest others to cheat. I really want to know. Is it really ok to do it?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sure, it's up to SG staff to either add it as reduced-CV item or not.
This would take effect retroactively, as it always has.

=> If your key contains a number of different items, you can freely pick which of them you create a giveaway for. However, what you make a giveaway for must be given to the winner.
There's also no rule stopping you from doing the reverse: creating a giveaway for a package of something with a high value, and then sending the winner individual copies of all the parts. But again, it must be complete, and in the sum it must be at least what you listed on SG.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

aah.. Makes sense. The application of Retroactive reduced CV is what I did not account for.

So at this time, someone can make a giveaway for the "Gathering Storm" DLC as it says it provides 39.99 CV but in its due time the CV provided by this item will get reduced as it is now bundled.

Thanks for clearing the doubt.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

but in its due time the CV provided by this item will get reduced as it is now bundled.

Well, it could be reduced, depending on how SG's mythical CV professionals handle this.
Usually there was a rule of thumb that if a deal is 95% off (in any region), the products get added to the bundled games list.

Personally I think it's just as likely that Gathering Storm will be added to this list as it is for it not to be. Also, if the publisher ever cuts the price from $40 to $30, $20, free, etc..., unfortunately that's retroactive CV loss too.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think I remember that 95% rule. Thanks for helping understand the new system.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you bought the game before any bundles/ sales over 95% for that game. So for example Persona 4 Golden. Never went on sale for more than 40% or been in a bundle. Then you list the game for giveaway. You get the 20 cv, even if you bought the game on sale for $14.

If Persona 4 is given away in the choice next month (one can dream), and people now list this game for giveaway as well. The first two or three days the cv moderators might be too busy to adjust the cv (so everyone gets 20 cv), but they will in due time reduce that cv to only worth 20% (so for persona it's 4cv). The moderators will retroactive it back to only the start of that choice bundle (or to when it was revealed), not affecting earlier giveaways (Cause that'll be unfair to the generous people who bought expensive new releases to giveaway on this site).

I hope that helps clarify things.

The things on offer actually made me look up how pausing works. I have the Classic plan and didn't think I could pause without losing it. Idk why I thought this, but thats neither here nor there.

The only things I'm interested in are Desolate and maybe Paw. Feels like a weird batch compared with previous months. I mean, isn't Stubbs from like 2002? Not saying by any stretch that an older game is inherently bad. It just feels like a weird pull. Probably going to let it ride and just give it away. Justify it as a drop in the bucket towards level 8.

Stubbs was recently re-released. I think it had previously been pulled from stores due to licensing issues. It also came back to XBox.

However, to get around the license problem, I've heard a lot of the original audio has been tampered or cut from the game, which is a major bummer

Bad bundle for me.
1 game I'm interested.
4 games wishlisted but I'm not really interested in them that much.
6 games I'd never spend my money on otherwise.
1 game non-steam. This is the worst for me. To accept this and buy the bundle, all other 11 games would have to be excellent and very interesting to me.
Another month I'll skip.

$6 Gang. Also got a $99 BF subscription ready to be activated if something nice comes out for July.

Sidenote: WTF Disjunction, if you wanna give me the option of GOG or Steam that would be nice. Forcing a Gog key knowing most of the people are playing on Steam is anti consumer.

I'm guessing the dev figured no one's gonna buy it on gog anyway so including it in a choice bundle was easy money with no down side. The weird thing to me is humble agreed to it fully knowing that not many people would want a gog key

I feel like it would've been better if the Humble page didn't include the Steam ratings and indication that it was on Steam. It's not like I have anything against GOG, but I wouldn't have cared at all if that game was either only available on GOG or had an option for both.

You donĀ“t need a launcher to start GOG games. You can use Steam Launcher to start GOG games, just include the GOG title into your library and you can play it like it was on STEAM!

Open your Steam app.
Click the Library tab -> select Add a non-Steam game.
Search for the game executable file (usually found in the :C drive -> GOG Games folder on your hard-drive).
Click the respective game executable file -> add it to the list while changing the name as you want to.
Right-click the game shortcut in the Library -> click Properties.
Right-click the game shortcut on your desktop -> select Properties -> copy the ā€˜targetā€™ and ā€˜start inā€™ sections to your game shortcut Properties window.

A lot of GOG games have achievements too. And GOG Galaxy Launcher (which can start your STEAM games and a lot of other platforms are supported too) features also auto-updates, cloud saving, rollbacks and multiplayer matching. GOG devs do a really good job and are still developing and improving these new features. Best of GOG games is, that they are DRM-free, so you can copy them and backup them. You donĀ“t need internet to play your games. I like STEAM too, but also like GOG. GOG Galaxy Client 2.0 is really nice and has a lot of features now worth a look.

My first reaction was bad. Also has Civilization VI already (which cancel excitation a little when you "buy the same again" :) ), but very appreciate dlcs as I considered to buy them (or complete addition in the future).

Unfortunately it does not have all current dlcs and there can be still new = it is possible will but the same 3rd time. That is why I need to think about it :). Also not counting this Civilization thing it is bad/below average bundle for me.

All the other games* will cost me ~3 dollars in bundle splits or keyshops...

Isn't that precisely dictated by the grey market resale value of the one game you are complaining about?
Without Civ 6 in here, the other games couldn't be available for pennies: resellers would need to recoup their money from those (+ Civ's hypothetical replacement) instead.

Yes, but it's pretty much the first time that 90% of the bundle is a filler material. It's not the first time I already own the "main game" but it's the first time in 5 years that there's pretty much nothing else in it to justify getting the bundle. The (apparently) "next best" game (Stubbs) is going for $1,5 while all the rest is priced at 10-50c. This is laughable. I'm an extremely easy guy to please and yet they managed to fail at that...
