Rick Pali submits the following from Before and After Magazine, Volume 4 Number 2.:
[quote]
After telling everyone that Lorem ipsum, the nonsensical text that comes with PageMaker, only looks like Latin but actually says nothing, I heard from Richard McClintock, publication director at the Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, who had enlightening news:
"Lorem ipsum is latin, slightly jumbled, the remnants of a passage from Cicero's de Finibus 1.10.32, which begins 'Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit...' [There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain.]. [de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC, is a treatise on the theory of ethics very popular in the Renaisance.]
"What I find remarkable is that this text has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since some printed in the 1500s took a galley of type and scambled it to make a type specemin book; it has survived not only four centuries of letter-by-letter resetting but even the leap into electronic typesetting, essentially unchanged except for an occational 'ing' or 'y' thrown in. It's ironic that when the then-understood Latin was scrambled, it became as incomprehensible as Greek; the phrase 'it's Greek to me' and 'greeking' have common semantic roots!"

Just find that interesting:)

I studied latin for 6-7 years.
It's not even close to funny to me :C

I meant... latin is not funny.
And it's not about latin itself, it's about how latin is taught.
But... well, now I can exorcise demons quite well and I can bitch about how bad was the pronunciation in Supernatural :D !

Not really, italian school system sucks, that's all.
In some schools ancient Greek is taught too :D !
I think it's a lot of time wasted, you'll never speak Latin or Greek in 2015, some facts or words' origin are cool, but 8 hours per week it's too much :|

Oh I love RPGs too. Talking about older RPGs like Fallout 1 & 2(as you can easily guess), or Planescape: Torment. And of course some other, like all those Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights(however NN was never... uh.. yeah, never one of my favourites). KOTOR games - yes please, very much, thank you. Arcanum - another great cRPG. Vampire: Bloodlines... Might&Magic series(especially games with numbers VI-VIII, yes M&M8 was still fun for me :P). From pen&paper - Vampire: the Masquerade, D&D, Neuroshima.
My face when I've beaten them all, and many, many more:

It looks like we have quite the same good taste :) I can't say enough good things about Fallout 1 (and the second one) and Planescape. I'm looking forward to see Tides of Numenera, as you are probably. Also loved the Masquerade franchise, particularly Redemption. Maybe because I played Masquerade pen & paper before ^^

My favorites are BG&E and Fable, though the newer ones arent as good as the original.

What? I would have thought with my polarizing 'You either hate me, or you can't F'ing stand me personality I'd be on ONE list or the other...
You're tampering with my over-developed sense of self importance here!
Also that's a pretty big critical fail!

My sincere apology, please note that I took required action to correct quickly my bad behavior. Should you be unhappy with the list I put you on, just ask and I'll put you to the other :)

Whitelist disclaimer: if you are an active contributor who gave really more than he/she received on SG, I'll probably add you to that list gladly. Posting something nice in that thread will help me have a look at your profile :)
Blacklist disclaimer: if you find yourself on that list, don't take it personally. Most of the time, it doesn't mean at all that I have any bad feeling against you: the main reason for being there is many won giveaways with far less contribution. I'd prefer to have a custom rule about gifted/received ratio that I could enforce with choosen giveaways only, but there's no custom rules with SGV2. Add me to talk if it matters to you.
Thanks all of you for your nice messages. I can't answer to everyone, but I read them all of course ! I didn't start answering yet, but I added some of you to my whitelist.
Also a nice user hid a giveaway for Ravensword: Shadowlands in that thread. You may want to look for that. Rumor says that it will include soon a penis-shaped cake picture :)
Last day edit: the Ravensword Shadowlands GA has ended, but the cake pic is still in it. Watching it carefully may give to any wise user a subtle direction on how to find a level 1 GA for Contraption Maker. Ends in 6 hours, no entry yet ! Also a few more names are in my WL.
Thanks again for all the jokes, pics, nice words... I've been really busy last week and unable to answer directly to everyone, but I read everything. You are awesome, folks !
