Turns out I found this the hard way. Even if you gift games worth above 100$ (The big franchise packs and stuff), you get CV of only a 100$. Which is a big loss when you are giving away stuff such as Eidos Anthalogy (210$), Daedalic Armageddon Bundle (160$) etc. I completely understand that this is due to the fact that its harder for cg and the other coders to program this in, but when exactly will this be sorted out?

Oh, and obligatory poll is obligatory.

[EDIT] : Turns out I'm an idiot. Never knew I could see my CV even in SG, which clearly shows 5.34. Basically, full value for my complete pack. So the problem is in the calculator site, not SG. Changing to reflect that.

Do you think SG should give us CV over 100$ for bigger games?

Yes.
No.
Potato.
I don't give a shit (Dunno how this is different from Potato).

I guess I'll vote yes since I'm giving away Eidos Anthology.

They give full CV. The real value calculator however, shows only 100 max.

If you're basing it off the CV calculator and not your actual CV that you can see on your website profile, then that's where your problem lies.

Well, depends. I had access to region locked copies of two really big prizes. So I did the GA. Also, as many people are pointing out, I think the CV calculator is wrong, not the site. I'll edit the desc. to reflect that.

CV calculator isn't run by the site. It's made by a user too so I don't think this is appropriate under Bugs/Suggestions.

Well, to be fair, had no idea that the calculator is not official. My bad. How do I find the user?

Clearing it further;

Your CV is 5.34. Level 6 is 500$. So, simple math shows that 5.34 means 445$ CV, which yours is, instead of the 274$ as the tool shows.

You missed me by a few minutes. I can't believe I'm that stupid to not notice the CV on SG itself. Well, the problem lies with the calculator.

Well, no. I got my CV for this just fine, as many others pointed out. Its just that since cg didn't share his api with knsys (the creator of the calculator), he had to rely on the entry points (which is capped at 100p) to price everything. So apparently there is no way to make the calculator count values above 100, not until cg gives the api.

The calculator probably shows 100$ because the maximum value of points you need to enter a giveaway is 100, even if the price is above 100$.

First off, this isn't even my region. Second, there is no limit. My CV got added 160$ correctly. Its just the calculator. Third, there could be a fix in the works, considering the solution is for cg to help knsys in the development.

You do realise, that only the points to enter are capped to 100p? Not the real CV? Also, in case you don't believe me, I am valued at Level 5.34 on Steamgifts itself, which is only possible, if the whole 159$ is credited.

Let me explain.
Limit for Lvl 5 is 250, and Lvl 6 is 500.
So I need 250 to proceed to the next level.
Now, 0.34 x 250$ = 85$
On my SGCV profile, it says 9.94% to next level (~ 10%)
0.1 x 250$ = 25$.

Difference? 85-25 = 60$. So SG counts the gift as 160$, while the calculator, since it calculates via points, takes it as 100$.

My understanding is that the 100 point limit is only in regards to points required to enter a giveaway. ie Those two big bundles you gave away only cost 100 points to enter, instead of their full value. cg was the one who decided on the 100 point max for a giveaway. I believe it was due to the 300 point cap and creating some sort of limit to point generation from large bundles.

This is entirely separate from how CV is determined for users. The calculator site is using the giveaway value for these to determine your CV, not their true value.

Yeah, its like I posted in the above comments. Now I just have to keep in mind that the calculator is gonna give me a lower level than what I am currently.

It is indeed a limitation of the calculator, as it's written in the tool thread.

When I have time, hopefully this week I want to look at steam API to check the real price of a game that is worth 100 Points here to get the real value from Steam itself. That will solve it in the majority of cases, but some of them will still fail (bundles that are not available anymore or bundles that change prices while steamgifts has the old price in cache).

Everything would be easier with an open (or closed to some developments) API, but is something CG doesn't plan to do. I'm sure a lot of new and interesting things would come from that.

True that. Thank you for showing up on this thread. It really means a lot to me. For those who don't know, knsys is the maker of the SGCV calculator, so give him plenty of kudos for his continued work.

And knsys, there is one more way you can work out games prices above 100. If I recall correctly, Enhanced Steam (a browser plugin) uses isthereanydeal.com to figure out if a certain product has been bundled in the past. So if you could use that to filter bundled packs, your job is done. Just my two cents.

Implemented Steam API to check the actual value of the package, now your calculated CV should be accurate since your packages are still available on steam store :)
