We are continuously monitoring all threads posted in the Official Batman: Arkham Knight Community and Steam forums, as well as any issues logged with our Customer Support (support.wbgames.com). If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved. The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.
The move follows a disastrous launch for Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. The game's 30fps cap and stuttering were only the most noticeable problems since its launch on Tuesday. PC Gamer's Chris Thursten acquired code earlier this week and published a thorough breakdown of the game's many issues. It got so bad that Green Man Gaming amended its refund policy to accommodate customers angry about the poor state of the game." - Source

Interesting, I can honestly say I didn't see that coming.

It seems that a simple update won't fix the game as users had thought. They might be trying to make a new build which will take much time but i respect their decision at least they didn't keep their game up for sale in such an unplayable state like Ac:Unity & Mortal Kombat X.

I totally agree. I think the decision to suspend sales and fix the game will turn out to be good for sales and good for the company's reputation.

well, good on them, Ubisoft was happy to sell their broken game while they "tried" to fix it, at least show some compromises were taken.

I would wager this has a lot to do with the platform being steam and the unconditional refunds policy. I bet they were getting a very large % of sales being refunded. Unity didn't have this problem. I'm sure they are working hard to fix it and I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to reset reviews when it's for sale again.

Wow, that's interesting
I'm still surprised they were able to ship the game at such state, I mean, there's gotta be Q&A, right?
I figure they realized it was better to retreat and regroup before an angry mob of pc gamers started trowing things at their buildings :p

They didn't make the PC port.

They did not, but maybe if they cared a teeny tiny bit more about PC users they wouldn't leave making the port to a studio consisting of 12 people...

Games belong to the publishers who pay some studio to make them. In this case WB. If you know anything about WB's history on PC, it would be that they don't really GAF.

They gave this work to the studio which ported also Bioshock: Infinite.

The studio wasn't the problem. It's the two months (63 days to be precise, if my source is correct) they were given to make a full port. If that's the case than they made a very good job in these two months (usually making a port is at least a 6 months job)

Turns out a game needs to be playable for it to sell.

This is WB after the negative reviews started rolling in.

Probably more concerned about the refunds rolling in, than the reviews.

No.

Activision should have done the same for their last two COD games.

And didn't those play testers they hired tell them these problems? Usually game companies would hire people to test their game before releasing it.

i'm guessing the CV will be updated afterwards, but for now...

If the new game changes id on steam, they could stay 0 cv

They'll probably re-publish it with a different name, like Batman: Arkham Knight - Remastered/Directors cut/whatever

I guess SG are nice enough to fix it manually.
we'll see when it happens

Probably I'm wrong but IIRC it's not fixable manually

really? if you entered as 60 and it droped to zero you lost?
very odd. i guess it is not something happening frequently (drastic price change)

yup. when I entered I had to use my points but now it requires 0 points to join so, even if I try to remove my entry I won't get the points back.
I believe all the system is automatic, look at the price in Steam and convert it in points needed to enter, does not track past changes in prices.

On the other hand I used it to get free points. I entered some now with a week or 2 to go, if the points go back to 60... I'll simply remove entry.

I didn't see them completely screwing up the PC release, but here we are. At least they're suspending sales, and I'm glad they're going to re-release a better version. I just hope we get to find out who's responsible, Rocksteady or otherwise.

It's pretty much a fault of Iron Galaxy Studios who made the PC port out of PS4 version of the game (based on control scheme in the game made out of DualShock 4), I assume.

I've heard the name Iron Galaxy being thrown around by users, but I'm not sure why Rocksteady aren't mentioning them. They only mention their "third party PC developers".

Defamation lawsuit? If they haven't been given enough time/money/whatever to do good job they could easily point that out and win...

I wouldn't have minded if the had delayed the PC release by tw or three weeks from the initial release day. They did it with Asylum and City. Those two weeks of Rocksteady helping that external development studio would have been fine. All in all, I don't mind PC release of any other game being delayed at all, I would rather play the better version in three weeks, than play a half assed version right now.

This whole release was ludicrous, the game looked even worse than on PS4! I was so shocked WB let it out like that. I think suspending the sales is the best they could do.

the game looked even worse than on PS4

well, people always say that, but it's not completely true.while AO and the rain textures are missing on PC (which has quite an impact on visual quality), we do have some effects that are missing on the PS4. the nvidia gameworks smoke stuff looks pretty amazing, for example.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh yeah, that one indeed. But you can't deny the fact that when you compare screenshots side-by-side the PC version looks worse.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The same gameworks smoke that doesn't work on 3/4 of graphic card brands? It would be one thing if that was effect available on all PCs, but that isn't really an advantage...

Oh wow, that's a pretty radical move. In this situation, I'd say it's the right one, though. I really can't understand why developers outsource the PC development in the first place; even if it turns out alright, it'll still seem like the PC version was just an afterthought that the developers have no interest in. Quality-wise, it's obviously a HUGE risk that and the results can be disastrous - like, oh, I don't know, having to take your game off the market because people refuse to pay for it. Is it really worth it?

Also, NVIDIA should probably start pulling these ads right about now... Just sayin'.
