Had some leftovers on my DIG account and decided to drop a quick mini-train to commemorate Victory Day, which was done across most of Western and Central Europe yesterday, and will be done across much of Eastern Europe today.

I am giving out a few real-time tactical strategy titles either developed or published by Nival Interactive - all of them use the Enigma graphics engine, first employed in 2003's Blitzkrieg, and later put to good use by various smaller developers and modding communities.

Other than the games in the poll, there a number of other titles, including a very interesting looking one called Talvisota: Icy Hell, which deals with the events of the Winter War (1939-40) between the Soviet Union and Finland. I cannot seem to find it online, if anyone knows a way to get a hold of a copy, please let us know - or share any other Enigma Engine games/mods that you might have come across!

This train is limited to Level 4+ SG members, and will end at 22:00 CET on May 9.

Good luck to everyone as you go from World War I to a post-apocalyptic future...

Thanks, never bothered to look for an official website in Finnish. I am still hoping we might see the game on Steam and international web-stores one day, but it seems it's mostly available for the local market until then.

I have never played any of these games before, but since I am not very good at RTS games, I entered for the post-apocalyptic one only.:)

A very nice train, however!:) Thank you very much!:)

You have an extra chance to get Stalingrad via WL :) The others are also very good as far as I know, but quite hard compared to contemporary strategic games, as early 2000s RTS games tend to be.

Let's try this again...stupid Internet Explorer...grrrr!

I wasn't sure if it would have been right for me to enter for those games since I am not very good at that genre of game, and as such, I probably wouldn't play them as quickly as I would games from other genres.:)

Thank you Skycycle for the ride and the remembrance of V-E Day!

Lest not forget that in the end the nazi scourge and the fascist cancer was beaten and beaten hard but that it came for a heavy price in military and civilian casualties.

Talvisota: Icy Hell!

This is mostly my favourite due to it dealing with a subject that's rarely touched on in games. Hearts of Iron 3 had a scenario dedicated to it, and Order of Battle recently got a DLC about it as well (shame I did not enjoy Order of Battle as much as Panzer Corps).

And the best way to get hold of it would probably be Amazon or Ebay. Copies do pop up from time to time.

Thanks for the train.

Holland was liberated on May 5th so we already had our Victory Day. It's great to see two trains commemorating our history.

There should be more history based games outside of strategy games, it's a great way for people to learn something (and hopefully gain a love of history; once the bug gets you, you will find more interesting stuff to read than you ever could in one lifetime).
