Hi,

I am wondering what you all think is the best web browser.
This is opinions not necessarily facts.

Try Pale Moon. It is basically Firefox, but with various optimisations and without the stupid UI decisions Mozilla have been making lately.

This. Pale Moon is the way to go for anyone who hates/dislikes the Chrome look.

Switched to Pale Moon after I finally lost patience with Mozilla with the last FF update. Pale Moon is really how FF should have gone forward.

+1 used to use Pale Moon and really enjoyed it. I use Chrome now though, I think it just feels a little cleaner or something.

Avant Ultimate, you can take your pick of all 3 common engines, FF, Chrome and IE at any time you want all through the same generally superior browser. Even IE is better when using it through Avant Ultimate.

generally superior

Impossible by any technical means. Hijacking engines means being behind by default.

I meant the interface and the functions it provides out of the box. The only thing that comes close is FF with like 20 add-ons installed and usually stock FF starts becoming unstable by then, I know, I've tried to go back to stock FF a couple of times (mainly back when Avant was still IE exclusive and when Orca (what they called their Avantified FF browser) was an unupdated pile of trash).

That's what addons are for and I'm glad it is this way. Nobody needs dysfunctional bloatware when you can have a slim piece of software to enhance how you want to.

I'd say it's down to personal preference between Firefox or Chrome. Firefox for customisability, Chrome for speed.

That's not the right answer. Tor browser because privacy is the right answer.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Depends of what kind of privacy you want, i'm a common user and i'm not browsing for sensitive things, so Firefox plus some privacy plugins are enough for me

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Same here. Occasionally I get tempted to use Tor anyway, but waiting upwards of five minutes for pages to load (when they load in seconds when I'm not using Tor) gets pretty tiring.

Depends, TOR was vulnerable during last 2 years due to hearthbleed that was fixed not so long ago and people were think they had privacy on TOR...LOL...

I use Pale Moon as it seems like it is the only browser that isn't removing interface customisation and becoming yet another Chrome clone. Plus it has the advantage of (almost) all the extensions that Firefox can use.

Permalink

+1 Pale Moon is what Firefox should be instead of being yet another Chrome clone. I switched to Pale Moon when Mozilla started making awful decision regarding the UI i.e. when FF4 was released.

firefox is by far the #1 browser when it comes to privacy, openness and adaptability
then come chrome, it's easier to use but lacks opennes and privacy featuress
then safari, opera etc.

and lets not forget IE, or maybe we should
