I can't believe people actually are willing to buy these cards for $60. Well, good for me, I guess, since it turns out that buying Go Home Dinosaurs was a really good investment.

Seems like a waste of $10 in fees to do a wallet transfer. And one of the foils was bought from the OP, after all. If it was the same buyer, the guy is probably just a psycho that's spending hundreds on foils.

A lot of these buyers are looking for a gold star next to their name, like in Kindergarten. It's human nature to seek approval from your peers.

Except wasting money on vanity does not really garner approval from all that many people.

Not really, small time games can be gotten on bundles for example, many people own those small time games, easier to get AND cheaper therefore, price shouldn't be so high.

Not surprised, considering the fact that I've sold TF2 items for quite a bit.

Good that you sold it so quickly, since it is bound to go down in value once there are more of them floating around in the marketplace. Congratulations! :)

I feel like if they keep adding games I have with the money I will make from cards(Hell even 50 cents a card, 5-6 cards a game, thats 3 bucks about) I won't have to spend much on the summer sale.

<3 Cards.

I got two copies of cubemen 2 almost free after selling the cards. Also I would have made money off of Go Home Dinosaurs even if I hadn't gotten the foil - a couple of days ago, the cards were selling for like $4 a piece average even though the game only cost $10 in steam store.

well this kinda reminds me of this strip though one has to wonder if the extra showcases on profile or friend list slots that seem to be only tangible outcome are really worth it. On the other hand, they support devs, Valve and someone else is happy (you) to get some "free money". Like you say, good for you :3 I suppose items on Diablo 3 market were selling well too, no?

These will only be $$ while its in beta. When everyone has this as the norm the cards will be a few pennies so sell em while you can!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That depends on a lot of factors. Considering that anyone that wants into the beta can get in now, and there are well over 500,000 (presumably of the most active Steam users) in the beta already, it is likely that most people that have these games, especially ones like Go Home Dinosaurs, are already taking part.

Also, more people means more cards but it also means more people wanting to complete sets.

There's also always the possibility that some sets will become "discontinued" at some point.

Yeah, if you get a rare foil early on, you can make stupid cash. I sold some tf2 items and shit and that balanced out the money I spent to buy regular cards

i bought a portal 2 foil card for 4,2 euro and sold it after a day for 5,2 euro.
i won 1 euro, eeeeeeeee.

i seen people that look for others mistakes that are selling foil cards like normal cards, they buy a foil card for 0,5 euro and sell them for even 11 euro.

also i bought cubeman 2 pack for 2,5 euro and i won 2,5 euro from it s trading cards, so conclusion is i got for free cubeman 2 pack (-75% steam sale)

and with the cards from half life 2, left 4 dead 2, portal 2, t fortress 2 i got 8,5 euro profit and i bought 4 tf2 keys and traded them for CIVILIZATION V gold and i have left with 1,6 euro.

so i think this trading card thing is good.

Last I heard you have to be level 10 for foil cards to drop so don't count on it until you level up.

Valve noticed that cards are community-building-failure and most people just sell them without getting level 10, which means less foil drops which means less money for Valve, so they dropped this requirement.

I've had a foil card for a few weeks now, but every time I put it up for sale for the lowest price, 5-6 others have set their cards lower within an hour or 2, which means that you have to be lucky with buyers.
