If I want a game I will buy it wherever I can get it, so in this games probably Uplay. That said, Epic's store UI is currently horrible. No wishlist that I can find, and having huge boxes in the store section instead of a list.

Played it for an hour or so. It was......underwhelming. There is something about Ubisoft games where they're really good at sucking the fun out of it. It happened usually the first time I open a map and see 200 collectibles, 60 side missions, 80 costume pieces and 30 weapon parts to do and I lose all willpower to do any of it. Happens often with any Assassin's Creed game I try to play and The Division wasn't an exception

LOOOOOOOOL!

They have their own store and launcher for fuck's sake. Literally one of the only companies (plus CD Projekt, Blizzard and EA) who'd be sensible with having exclusives. But still, they're moving to a third party. This is a weird one. Just like with Black Ops 4.

I mean, whatever, I'm guessing Epic sucked their dick for long enough to make their skin wrinkle, so it's a good idea for them overall. But in all honesty, this is just the weirdest thing I could've imagined with Epic's exclusivity deals.

i'll stay with a "no steam no buy" mentality.

i love the activity feed with screenshots sharing, steam group chats with my friends, and steamworks to invite people joining me online...
Also bonuses like refunds, reviews, steam badges, custom profiles, community hubs... are really something.

I don't see myself going on the epic store playing alone without that environment i'm used to have on steam.

Yeah the little guys like Ubi need more of our money so we must buy all games on epic to give them the higher cut they deserve.

The sign is clear. On Steam people could refund if the game would not work, on Epic i heard some horror stories of people trying to refund and on Ubi the same.
So after the fiasco launch of Division1 i guess i know now what to expect at launch.

No buy for me, it's sad because i have all the Ubi games (on Steam!).

Meh. If publishers/developers are going to pull this bullshit exclusivity crap then I won't buy their games. Simple.
I get that they're trying to break this so-called 'Valve Monopoly', but as consumers, weren't not going to see fuck all benefits from this.

Also, I see that they're price-gouging us Australians. Why am I not surprised.

Price when logged out of my Epic Games account & connected to my VPN: $59.99 USD ($83.52 AUD)
Price will signed in: $69.95 USD ($97.39 AUD)

No thanks.

People are missing the point a lot with these things. This is not free market. You can have 999 stores if you want. But if each product is available exclusively at its respective store, you literally have no competition. Literally. This is, believe it or not, called monopoly. - when only one place has/controls one particular product. Steam is not a monopoly (perhaps only with their games). Devs can release their games on every place they want at the same time as the have it on Steam. This is not the case with the epic store. Now, even if Steam was a monopoly, you can't expect to combat a monopoly by creating another monopoly. It doesn't make any sense, and people who are supporting this need to rethink a little bit more. But, I bet 99% of people who are coming out with this crap about "hur dur competition" won't buy a single thing from the epic store anyways, so who cares.

It's also bullshit because we aren't even on different consoles/platforms. This is a major reason why I play on PC and not consoles, and now they're trying to bring their crap over here. This is like, "Ha! now we've arbitrarily stopped you from doing what you would have preferred with our product."

Actually Epic is paying devs to put their games there so basically everybody knows epic store is very bad and has no userbase but they are getting a sum that can make forget about sales so Ubisoft must have got a large sum of money from this to make them look the other way on a large sum of sales (Steam)

And if they just cared about their cut they would make it UPlay exclusive...

Does it matter anyways, where it's sold? It'll still require to be ran through Uplay anyways... having it on a different client than Uplay just adds another step before you can play the game (run Steam/Epic, start the game, it starts Uplay client and then finally you can play)

From a launcher angle, most likely not unless you have issues like jbondguy007 on the first page. That aside, some people already have funds tied up in Steam, such as from prepaid cards or from the market. Also, some people may only be able to use prepaid cards and if they are unable to locate Uplay or Epic cards they won't be able to purchase the game.
I don't really mind a 3rd/4th/5th launcher as I still recall when we had no launchers and games were their own thing. What I don't get is why not put it on Steam at a 43% markup to offset their loss and let the people decide? If people decide to pay it, great! If not, perhaps there will be more push back against Steam when they see they can get it elsewhere for so much less.

In his defense, the client is really terrible - i wanted to activate a Epic game key i got a long time ago from Humble Bundle, but there isn't even an option to do so. The UI could have improvements, it's not really a pleasant experience using it. But the games tab is easily accessible, so just considering i'm using the client exclusively to play, it's okay.

People that have funds in their Steam Wallets can simply use those to buy other games. It's not like there won't be other games to spend it on this year, heh. And i think that Ubisoft wouldn't really care if the game would be on Steam as well, but they (probably) got paid a hefty sum by Epic to keep it exclusively there and to not approach Steam. Those exclusivity deals are time limited, so i can see The Division 2 coming to Steam sooner or later, unless Epic somehow overthrows Steam, which i can't see coming at all or Epic strikes a huge deal with Ubisoft for exclusivity of all future games as well, which is plausible.

Epic has the money to invest into becoming a big deal, while Steam has long, long ongoing market with many different very well working functions that separates it from other game launchers (Market, Groups, High-Detail Profiles comes to mind - something that's absent from others.). Let's see what comes first - downfall of Fortnite or Epic reigning victorious over Steam.

I don't see how Epic is going to be better than Steam for the customers. They're not going to allow forums or game reviews. So no place to seek help and no criticisms of the games. How is that consumer friendly? There won't be any sense of community. Their policies and features are worse than Steam's. Are games on Epic going to be cheaper since developers are getting a bigger cut? Lower prices is one of the best ways to lure new customers but I heard no mention of this which is not a good sign. They seem to be more focused on impressing developers instead of consumers.

This is not competition.
If it's not going to be on Steam, then I'm just going to buy it directly through U-Play, which is going to be required to launch pretty much any Ubisoft title anyway.
