I want to create a private giveaway for a Steam group but I would like to ask a question.

Can I put rules for it? Like, the winner must be an active member of the group/community to be eligible to claim the game, if not I'll re-roll the giveaway.

Is that possible? Thanks in advance.

Yeah. Just a safety precaution, consult the mods. Then show the proof of Mod's approval in the description (This is not necessary, just a precaution)

1) Only private giveaways or giveaways for private groups can have special rules (rules for small public groups will most likely get approved, too) - so far so good.

2) Every rule has to be approved by a mod before you create the giveaway.

3) It's hard for a mod to determine if a winner is "an active member of the group/community", or if you just don't like the current winner.

Based on (3) I'd say you'd have a hard time to request a re-roll.

If you want to narrow down the possibly entries to a specific group of users, you should sent a link to a private giveaway to the users that you want to enter, or create a new group and only invite the users you want to enter your giveaway.

The site in question is VG24/7. I'm a frequent user and know who is part of the community, a random leecher or a troll. If I was to make just a hidden giveaway, without any Steam group attached, would I be able to re-roll?

I really can't say for sure if a mod would accept that as a valid reason for a re-roll.

But you can always try to get on touch with a mod, either by catching one in the Steam group chat or by creating a support ticket. You have to create a support ticket anyway to get your rule(s) approved.

Cheers =)

instead of a Blacklist, you how about a Whitelist?
Private giveaway with a list with everybody on it who may join. (Still has to be approved first)

you know who is active user on this site. SG mod doesn't. And SG mod must approve every reroll. So you won't get this rule approved, asit's totally subjective, based solely on your opinion, not a logical objective rule. I prefer to make a whitelist of "active users" and attach it to Ga instead.

Thanks all for the feedback. Can I set a rule that says that the participants must have had an account for more than 3/6 months prior to the giveaway?

I guess you can, as this on the other hand is totally objective rule that a moderator can check for each individual member :)

But as mentioned before - to use any rules you have to create a support ticket asking permission. When you get a permission you can then use this set of rules in every private / non-public-group GAs from this day forward :>
