Tempting for the source-code, just to burrow into the juicy live examples and expand my basic knowledge.
Or I could just flounder on as I have been, in GMS2

Considering that I haven't done anything with the 2015 GameMaker bundle, I think I'll stay away this time.

Someone knows, if the modules work with Studio 2.0?
Thanks.

The modules only work with 2.0 if you paid for upgrade, which is 40% off until end of August.

Might be a silly question but are the source codes that come with this the same as the last Humble GM bundle?

With tier 3 you will be able to run your games in different platforms like mobile devices and you will learn more, also you will be able to publish your games in those platforms an ear some mony(Selling or adding ads).

Asking non-ironically: What's the appeal of GameMaker as an IDE and engine now that Unity has 2D support?

I would say the biggest appeal for GameMaker is the royalty/licensing system. You don't owe anything to YoYo after releasing your game, but most other commercial engines want a percentage of sales.

Most other advantages of GameMaker could be fixed by purchasing addons in the Unity marketplace..like drag-n-drop programming. Historically, GameMaker produced smaller executables, but I'm not sure this is still the case. Unity relies/relied on an outdated MonoDevelop compiler to create cross-platform games, with Microsoft now owning that compiler it's questionable if Unity can update to a modern version. YoYo uses their own compiler, so they have full control of their product.

if you really interested in game development and want to learn it then it's worth to pay. Otherwise you can search for free courses like lynda.com(free with trial) or Microsoft Virtual Academy
