So yeah, basically all my data has been compromised.

I had a notepad with some spare keys left which I was planing to share with you guys, but not like this... not like this...

Anyway, hoping that the attacker didn't get his dirty little greasy hands on them.. I shall give them away here with only ONE RULE: If the key doesn't work, please allow me to delete the giveaway.

Stay safe my dudes and dudettes, the interwebz is a dangerous place for young padawans.

So sad... Hopefully they don't recognize anything of value before moving on.

Very sorry to hear that :(

Was your data ransomed or do you just think it was stolen?

Probably ransomware. I didn’t wait to see what’s going to happen. I unplugged the internet as soon as I realized what happened and now I am backing up my data in preparation for reinstalling windows.

Careful you don't back up the ransomware!!! keep any backups you made before this, do not overwrite them.

I am worried about this as well, but I have no choice. It’s personal stuff like photos and videos that I need to take back. I will probably keep them on the flash drive and gradually move some parts of it back. Maybe getting Norton as my AV will help. I used Total AV in the past since it is free, but now I am considering actually buying Norton or BitDefender.

I would advice Malwarebytes for Malware.

I got it after the infection in a desperate attempt to remove the virus. It couldn’t detect it.

I know it’s a good anti-malware tho, since it helped me in the past..

It’s a good thing that I have 2 step authentification. It most likely saved my Steam account and kept my bank account safe.

I was hacked 2 months ago but not like you, they encrypted my files with GUJD extension so I couldn't do anything to retrieved them back
My only choice was fresh installation and all drives formating

It’s a horrible way to start the week but c’est la vie.

The only good thing that came out of this is that I will have a fresh start and I will try to install new games and actually play them. Most of my SDD memory was occupied by GTA 5, RD2, Apex, Warzone, WoT, League of Legends, CS GO and Football Manager 2018 and 2021 which I added facepacks and logopacks consisting of around 50gb each. I rarely play these games, but I could never delete them because I thought I’ll come back.

So yeah, excited to install some new stuff and enjoy gaming again! 😄

I'm glad to see that you get something good out of it! You can always install those games again if you decide to come back later :)

Hope not. GTA Online and League of Legends is pure crack. And not the good type.

Oh by the way, kinda of a random question but it’s worth asking anway..

Can anyone give me an idea why my newly purchased 128gb 3.0 usb flash drive is struggling to transfer data? I mean it goes from 60-70mb/sec to 0 and then it starts all over again till it reaches a high speed, then drops to 0 again. It’s frustrating AF. I formatted it from ExFAT to NTFS, but it didn’t help. Is the flash drive busted??

I assume you are transferring large amounts of data, in this case the issue might be related to the usb drive struggling to keep up with the windows write caching. Flash drives don't have a large buffer so this can cause problems like yours. What you could try is zipping files and then transferring them, this can improve your transfer speed.

Perfectly logical! I think this is the reason.

I am thinking of making a backup of my files right now, just in case. Last one was a year ago

Do that ASAP! You can never predict these type of things and it only takes a moment of not being at your best, to get distracted and let your guard down.

I for one will surely backup all my important data on a removable SSD from now on.
