This thread is for all retros, these added in the future on Steam. It's a reboot thead, because the last one incl. my retro group mention (sometimes with curator) and less Giveaways. (It was closed, so I hope this is now okay as source for original retros from 19xx to 2006) Remaster with the same game content are allowed, but no remakes. (You can mention it, but it don't count as "retro" in group or "counter" :D)

Enjoy

Hercules is a fantastic game. I don't even remember how many times I've beaten it as a kid. Artstyle, level and enemy designs, sound effects, gameplay, everything was so damn good.
I wonder how well it fares on modern PC's though.

Probably uses dosbox, so fine.

It doesn't uses Dosbox. (It's not a DOS game)
Mostly of the later released Disney Interactive are good programmed (I guess) because most of them worked still good on modern systems, like Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge.)

It was also a PS1 game, so I'm guessing it's a 32-bit program, which works fine on a 64-bit OS.

Hast du es dir schon gekauft? Hat es Controller-Support oder ist es wieder nur DOSBox-Ramsch?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Independent from my strong dislike of the current aggressive trend to essentially outlaw any link on flimsy arbitrary basis without them actually being rule breaking as per cg's definition, and closing threads solely on the mere issue of having 'too many' links to non infringing content.
I unfortunately have to say that the linked giveaway of yours, and I go strongly by the exact words of cg here, indeed violates the guidelines. Solely on the point that, and I quote him:

IF their site prompted users to perform an action, such as clicking a referral link before accessing content, then it would no longer be allowed since it would not follow the new guidelines.

The requirement there of joining a group and especially following the curator is in direct violation of the guidelines and thus not allowed.

Therefore I strongly recommend you to remove the link.

If the giveaway there would not require to perform any actions, as in it being accessible to everyone with no limitations, then that would indeed be alright, but as it is right now it's not.

EDIT: I would make a giveaway directly on SG, but I could find the game in the list. :/

You can write a ticket for the game to be added, that usually works well

It's neat that they're on Steam, but neither Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow or Hercules have native controller support, and apparently it's a hassle to get one working. That's actually sort of shocking. Whoever's in charge of both games needs to get their shit together.

Permalink

Hercules have native controller support. You can change it. Press F2 in the main menu. :)

Maui Mallard can be simple with controller during the game.

I'll be optimistic and take your word for it. Most of the reviews make it sound like using a gamepad is a pain.

That's definitely how it appeared to me too.

I've decided to hold off just on basic principle. Games like these should have advertised partial controller support at the very least. I'd understand if it was an FPS from 1996, but yeah, we shouldn't need a tips section on how to use a gamepad with a Disney platformer. :)
