Sadly, 2012 wasn't a good Euro for Netherlands either. 2004 was awesome though (and that makes me realize I am getting old xD).

Wish to see them on the next World Cup.

95% of America calls it football. Only Canada, US, and 2 or 3 countries in the caribbean call it soccer.

No, it isn't. And it makes no sense to name some event happening in Europe by the vocabulary used by the tiny minority in the world who isn't even interested in that sport.

I believe America has about 200 million inhabitants, call that a minority.

I'm not sure what is weirder. That more than 100 million US Americans don't exist for you or that you wouldn't consider 300 million people a minority among ~8 billion humans. ;)

Is it 300 well not that what they always say here, a person can't just be omniscient, right?

That's a bull reasoning as if 8 billion people are busy with "soccer" or even know what that is.

Uhm, considering how little you seem to know about football I wonder how you even noticed that the Netherlands played against Austria today.

I really don't know what your beef is mate.

Let alone come up with that reasoning out of what whoever calls what soccer or football, actually i do call it soccer, and i just acknowledged americans call it football what the original reply started with.

I'm just entirely confused by your series of irrational arguments. Your claim that "200 million" aren't a minority, your "bull" while not being aware that football is by far the most popular sport globally. Anyway, call it whatever you want, I'm too tired for more of this.

Top 10 Most Popular Sports - 2021 Updated Table
rank Sport Estimated Fans

  1. Soccer / Association Football 3.5 Billion
  2. Cricket 2.5 Billion
  3. Basketball 2.2 Billion
  4. Field Hockey 2 Billion

What arguement(s)*? I only said football/soccer is potato/potatoes, you make more of it.

Fine, so you are right it's apparently the most popular sport, however over 8 billion people you like to mention, then even by your standards 4.5 billion of a majority that dont have any interest in soccer.

And yes 200 or 300 million people simply just isn't a tiny minority, try neglecting that in any election.
For being a tiny majority they sure did have an big impact with world war 2, not? And not to mention much more political impact.

Congrats on making it though the group, hope England can follow in your footsteps tomorrow!

They still did pretty bad even at practice games, a big majority of the people here didn't give them one chance, so it was suprising to see them play so decent the last 2 matches.

Thank you, and I wish England good luck too, and maybe we meet.

Strange tournament playing in many places instead in just one (or two) country as it's always the case.
It was decided before COVID.

Let's see who wins this year. Hope it's the better team!

yes, I can understand that we are better now with vaccines but I would ask the people to keep their masks on while on the stadium.
After months (at least a year) saying that we must have the mask always on now I see in disbelief that much people together without one.

There are proposals in Spain about removing the mask use outdoors but nothing is clear yet.
We should not forget that being vaccinated doesn't imply you can't get/pass to others the virus. It "only" provokes the illness to be much soft and avoid the most severe symptons.

That said, what is your candidate to win Euro cup? I'd say it's France.

We were supposedly to keep masks till september 1 (my bday) which would be a long hot summer, but now they might say we not need them anymore next week.

And you are absolutely right, here atleast still not all people got vaccinated (i stil have to get my second), not to mention there will always be a large group that don't even want one, it all goes way too quickly with making things easier.

Hope netherlands offcourse, but France has the best odds. But it's also a bit off luck, a goal that may or may not land, your best player not having a good day.

Hehe, minutes after my message I see on news that they are removing mandatory masks outdoors on 26th June.
Let's see if that really happens.

I haven't had my first jab yet... I should be contacted before the end of month.

And yes, luck factor is always there. That makes football something enjoyable. The better teams is not the one winning everytime.
Spain, with their lack of goal and having left at home better strikers, will (hopefully) pass the group stage but to be knocked out on their next match.

The only full stadium is in Hungary, because 60%-70% of the population vaccinated and only those can go to the match who got both vaccine or foreigners with fresh covid test. As far as i know and seen other stadiums not full, some looked pretty empty so far. For second round i think Denmark increased capacity already, as it was more full than during first round.

Maybe not 100% full but from what i saw it was still a large bunch of people packed together regardless. I dunno what some empty rows of seats more or less do there.

I havent seen a single match, the game keeps getting tighter. 1 goal at the champions league final. I want to see England at the end but seems like they're also cursed (just like Mexico who can't reach quarter finals). The Netherlands deserved to be at the1998 World Cup Final, It would have been better than that 2-0. But then again Zidane was a genius.

GL, but football is all about cheating for big countries most of the time, this is why my country lost one of the two WC finals we had in our history, when our team was superior, which probably will never happen again.

They still doing this, with small refree decisions, or when after offside they let the attacker to run another 30m and get a goal and then once scored show the offside, without even the VAR, that is clearly a planned move to mentally destroy the smaller team, like how it happend on Hungary-Portugal when it was 0-0. It worked for the UEFA, the concentration was fallen after that "goal". Yes, it was a clear offside, still the action should have been stopped, like usually.
Not like my country has even the slighest chance in that group, but football should try to be fair instead forcing the "we need push these teams because of the number of population and economy so we can earn money". On most matches these not visible, because smaller teams not always have chance, but when they have because they doing fine their tactic and the big team in bad form, then refrees start to favorize big teams with small, slightly visible actions. I doubt they doing this by their own, guess ordered by FIFA and UEFA. Same on club football matches.

The changes that 5 players can be replaced is also for favorizing big countries, smaller countries don't have that quality players on reserves.

NED-AUT was a bad match from the aspect of a neutral viewer, mainly because the Austrian team wasnt able to do more than a few passes without mistakes and so they wasnt able to create any dangerous situation.

After the group phases, when my country no longer there (well, if we would get at least one draw in this deadly group we got into, then that is already more than we could have expected) then i would have the similar hope like always: Ill cheer for a new EURO winner, and not another France, Germany, Italy wins etc. That is boring.
