+1 Why do companies act like it's still 2009 and release stuff on iOS first?

Because someone, somewhere, once said that apps were not as profitable on Android as on iOS.

But even though that myth has been debunked by a few developers who made their figures known proving it was just as profitable, and sometimes even more, a lot of people still cling to that absurd notion and still target iOS first (or only).

The way the market is split now, it's the same as making a game for Mac first then porting to PC.

I thought that the main reason Developers prefer iOS first because it's easier to make. Because they don't have to worry about tons of different Android versions and screen sizes and hardwares.

I'm a student learning programming, tried learning both and I certainly had this feeling too.

It's been blown out of proportion, especially with later versions of Android. A lot of the early kinks have been worked out. Fragmentation is actually worse on iOS now because it wasn't designed to have different screen ratios from the get-go and things need to be patched up to support the new devices.

From developer's blogs, I've seen them talk about how there was little difference in developing for both platforms. A friend of mine is currently developing a game using Unity and his experience is that it's been a lot easier to develop on Android than on iOS. He even thought about giving up on iOS completely and going Android-exclusive.

I don't know a thing about making apps, but since a lot of small developers are making all kind of apps on Android it can't be that hard to do. Seems to me it's the easier platform.

PC games have had to deal with various resolutions and hardware configurations for the last 20 years. Sounds to me like a bunch of whiners if they're really complaining about that on Android.

Android releases should aways go first. Android already took the Smartphone market. And iOS is complete trash.
I can even see Windows Phone taking over iOS anytime soon. (Trolling, of course).
Yet again, Making the game first for android would profit waaay more than iOS first.
Or atleast release both at the same time.

Many analysts actually predicted Windows Phone to be the 2nd largest mobile OS in a few years, behind Android. However, unless there start to be some real traction going behind it, I don't see it happening anymore... which is unfortunate.

The controls are going to take a little getting used to. It seems I can't attack while jumping. :(
The build and tools have a massive reach though.

edit: worked out how to attack while jumping.
I'm impressed with this overall. Should be well worth the £2.99!

If Re-Logic could port as good as 505 games, we would've had 1.2 on PC months ago. But meh, all they do is talk...

...the hell are you talking about? 1.2 is not a port, it's a PC exclusive "expansion" that doesn't have the console's content. At least that's what they claimed it to be like a few weeks ago still.

Just wanna clarify that's it's not a simple claim that "yeah it's uhh filled with content", it's backed by a huge list of "spoilers", i.e. screens and info of new content:

Right after the console version came out Re-Logic stated they would add the console content to the PC version.

Controls are better than expected, but I'm already missing multiplayer. :(

Also: Junk Jack X is out as well for those who like a little less action and more building (both came out yesterday on iOS and both are excellent!)
