Doom 3 BFG is a weird inbetween game - has horror mechanics / spawns but gives you a proper lamp, reducing the horror-factor and increasing the action one. I didn't much like the game, but around the end it really got compelling, and recently (after months of finishing it) reinstalled it to try a run on hardest difficulty. It's not as much of a run and gun as the other Doom games, but it is not as much of a slow horror its dark environments suggest. It worked for me the best when I played with the mindset of "how can I fuck over the designer who designs the jumpscare spawns and traps" + some you're locked in with me attitude. At least on normal, enemies are more scary with their spawns as their damage is, and despite of the meh weapons sounds, you have a potent armory at your disposal. Maybe Doom 3 is a weird Doom game, but a pretty good shooter on its own. (with lots of lore and notes, to read about the events)

It felt like a weird mix of Half-Life and System Shock. Still enjoyed it but never played Resurrection of Evil.

Nah, I'm not going to enter just for the expansion. I bought Doom 2016 some time last year and haven't even touched it yet.
At least in the past year I managed to get through Perdition's Gate, Hell to Pay and HacX, so I'm good on Doom stuff for a while.

Apart from my shitposting, I actually love giving away games. I haven't had the chance to do so most recently though due to financial issues and I feel really bad about it! Winning all the time w/o giving something away is simply disrespectful and abhorrent. I'm so sorry! I try and make this up by giving away 3 copies of DOOM 3: BFG Edition. There's too few id Software games anyways!
