Saw the match, Arsenal fan here, pur Venga's futbal. The problem comes that, supposedly, he's friend with a bookie and gambled that he'd be spotted in camera eating, and there is proof of that.

Yeah, but as long they pay the huge correspondent taxes, governments will allow it.

Howdy mate. Care to elaborate on why you blacklisted me?

The best thing woul have be to jus cancel the bet and give the money back from those bets since this guys knows about it. The fact he ate it or not would have biased the bet just because he knew about this bet. :D

Why should I sign?
So he and his mates can make money?

Thats the most retarded thing i have read all day ... and i even saw a trump tweet ...
There are few questions that arise .,.. like WHO the fuck takes bets on a guy eating a Pie during a game ? Thats just ridiculous .
Also if there is no proof that he got paid to eat said pay , why would he get fired ? Its against any rules to eat during a game ?
Its just another one of those , better kick the guy just to make sure no one gets offended , cause people will get offended .
Like there are starving children in Africa and that guy eats a pie on TV ... you know that kinda stupid stuff >.<

He clearly violated the betting regulations. He knew about the bet before the game, knew that people around him put money on the bet and still did eat his pie during the game regardless.
And last time i checked his job was not being a funny guy eating pie, it's being ready in case the starting goalie gets injured and nothing else.
And the worst part is, he is taking all the attention now that his teammates should be getting for their admirable performance on the pitch.

He would have been violating the regulations regardless of what he did. Once the bet was made public, any decision he made regarding that pie would have influenced the bet. If he would have chose not to eat the pie, his actions would have been just as decisive.
Sun Bets put this poor man in a horrible position, just for some cheap advertising. Now he's unemployed and his kids are the ones who will suffer.

No, if he would have choosen not to eat during the game, he would have behaved as expected and nobody could prove any betting reg violations. Kinda like a Soccer player doesn't get in trouble when he scores a goal but gets in all sorts of trouble when he scores an own goal on purpose. One is expected behavior, the other is not.
And if being a 45 year old backup goalie for a 5th league team is his only source of income (you don't earn enough money at that level to pay your bills and will need to work at least a part time job) he made some rather poor life choices. It also seems like he will land rather soft as i did already read about him potentially landing a sponsor deal with some pie company.

That must be one of the crappiest reasons that someone could get fired for.
Edit: LOL, I've been instantly blacklisted. People are so touchy. :)

the problem is, it was actually against the rules of the competition in quite a serious manner for him to in any way induce people to make the bet, and he admitted some of his mates had made some money betting on him to do it as he told them he would before the game after seeing the odds. Whether he played makes no difference. A bit heavy handed but it is potentially illegal and people have been sent to jail for 'spot fixing' effectively in this country before.

Did he eat pie before during a game? If not then this probably was gambling and then Arsenal takes the safe road to fire him and condemn such actions. If he regularly eats pie on the bench then I don't see the problem.

What it comes down to is whether or not he participated in fixed betting. Which from some of the comments here he did, and if so he should be banned for life from the sport.
edit: I would maybe have signed the petition if he was an Arsenal keeper. and he was letting all them goals in nah, I wouldn't have
