Is this pricing truly Evil, or will you stay & become a Resident?

[Tier 1] For a dollar this is pretty good.
[Tier 2] I want something juicier, and games with co-op suit me.
[Tier 3] Guess it's a bit pricier to reach the unbundled goods, but what can you do?
[Have] I got my own Village (and a City and a truckload of Raccoons) already.
[Expensive] At these prices, I can just buy what I'm missing a la carte.
[Tier complaint] How can silly little RE4 be in the $30 tier? Makes_no_sense.jpg. It was in a T2 in 2015 (!).
[Coupon complaint] If I wanted coupons, I'd craft badges, not spend this kind of money.
[Reality check] 50% off RE Village isn't even attractive when it's 58% off on Fanatical right now and cheaper yet on grey markets.
[2spoopy4me] No zombies and gore, plox. Eek!

Great bundle if you want to give the RE universe a try. Amazing T1. Still, it's a skip for me since I have most of them except for RE 2, 3 and 7 and the Deluxe for RER2 and it's not worth spending $30 just for that, since I'll get them plus Village for a lot less eventually. Plus, I'm in no hurry.
As a complete bundle it's a "no brainer" :).

Not that high of a price point depending on your needs. That and I prefer to not shop from shady keyshops. So even going with more legit sellers. This is a great deal for everything.

If you don't need everything then ya, you probably want to buy separate.

Fortunately for me, I needed a few from this so it was worth the expense. :D

I came here to ask the same thing. They have Resident Evil Revelations 2 Episode 1 listed in Tier 1, and Resident Evil Revelations 2 Deluxe Edition in Tier 2. We should be provided keys for each, not some braindead "Oh you bought T2? Forget about your T1 key that we told you that you would get" backasswards thinking.

They are literally scamming people off with the 2nd/3rd tiers. They are giving you 1 key less for what you pay for, they state 12 item bundle, not 11. Is there anyway to bring this up to them? The key in question is Revelations 2 episode 1, it's only included if you buy the tier 1 bundle, tier 2 and tier 3 has deluxe edition included but removes the tier 1 offer but the tier 1 offer is still present in tier 2 and tier 3. Essentially making it a scam, i wanted episode 1 for me, since i miss only that one and was going to offer the deluxe to a friend so we could co-op.

I know it's only "another buck", to get the key that i want, but this is a sc*mbag move and i shouldn't be forced to pay an extra buck to get what i should have gotten included in the package. I'm fairly certain it is intentional on their end just to try and save some cents per tier 2/3 purchase. Next time i'll just put it all towards charity and devs, no splitting between all 3, that ought teach them a lesson.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Is it worth contacting Humble? Would they do anything about it? I agree with you, and I also feel a bit scammed when going to put these on my key list before redeeming and finding out that not only is it not 12 items (they count the coupon) but it isn't even 11 like we are supposed to get, since like you said they withhold the T1 key.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I sent them a ticket, i have little hopes of them going through with the deal.

I just noticed they are forcibly taking a share on the split but allowing other sliders go to 0, LOL. The hell is this... Imagine doing charity work and allowing the slider go to 0 for charity but forcibly put a minimum value for humble. Seems they want a minimum of 15%, i mean.

I used to split between all 3 evenly in previous bundles/purchases but i did not notice this change until now. This alone shows the core problem with humble bundle. Sure, they need to get money somehow, but since they own a store, perhaps they could have applied this rule to the store, not the bundles. Because the essence of these bundles was to donate to charity through buying games on a special price, doesn't sound like that anymore. Priority is HB, everything else is second. Way to go.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yea, and apparently they increased that minimum amount for Humble sometime after the bundle released. When I had first checked, the bundle costs $38.53 CAD for the Tier 3, and I was able to adjust it so that 1 option (charity or partner) would receive $37.01 of the bundle (which seemed crazy to me), and then when I went back later to buy it the max I could raise the non-Humble slider to was $32.76. They really need to get their act together.
(edit: I also sent them a ticket about it shortly after I complained here, but have yet to hear back. Idk how long that usually takes)

That price change always happens. Not sure how it works now, but back then the value would average based on the the amount spent per person, so it would go up a bit if someone paid lots more. Most people will spend the value mentioned or go under that amount, meaning the average will stay the same and hardly go up after sometime.

That price hike was probably someone spending too much money on a bundle, making it slightly more costly for everyone else. I assume it still works like this, the funny thing is that someone on the inside could easily rig bundles this way, by spending more than they should in the first hour or so, making the highest tier more expensive for late buyers. I could be wrong though.

As for the ticket, they replied to me and said:

"Hi there,

I appreciate your patience while I investigated the issue at hand! I'm sorry for any confusion regarding this missing key; I will be happy to explain.

Purchasing the $10 tier or higher provides a key for Resident Evil Revelations 2 Deluxe Edition, which contains the content for Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode 1: Penal Colony. Unfortunately, a second individual key is not provided for this content as it would not be redeemable if you redeem your Deluxe Edition key. I hope this information helps, and I am very sorry once again for any confusion this may have caused!

Please reach out to me if you have any additional questions or concerns, as I will be more than happy to address them for you!"

They also removed the episode 1 item from tier 2 and tier 3, essentially fixing the problem, after scamming people off.

Wow, well I didn't have high hopes when I contact them, and was pretty blunt in my support ticket saying that I want the key I paid for and that I'm looking at contacting PayPal about my purchase if they don't provide it, but after I sent my ticket I started thinking about it more. I realize that the key we are complaining about is really cheap if you divide the cost of Tier 1 by 3, but it's more the principle of the matter that pisses me off. They clearly advertised them as separate items in the bundle, and I included a picture showing that the bundle clearly showed the 2 items side by side in Tier 2, but I will probably end up get a similar response to the one that you got.

(Edit: I even preemptively included in my support ticket something along the lines of "It's not okay to claim that the key was included in the deluxe edition from Tier 2", because I could already see that BS response they sent you in my head.)

I just noticed they are forcibly taking a share on the split but allowing other sliders go to 0, LOL

I'm surprised you missed all the fuss this made when they did that change.
First they took away the sliders completely without even making an announcement, then after weeks (or a few months?) of complaining they put them back, then they worked on them a bit and made an announcement and released the sliders as they are today, always locked with a minimum for them around 15%, and sometimes (but rarely) a minimum for the devs and/or for charity. Not that Humble anymore :/

Right click the game on steam, go to properties, there should be a dlc tab telling you what you have for the game.

Episode 1 is included in the deluxe edition, but if you look at tier 2 and tier 3, episode 1 is still mentioned as an offer, along with deluxe, but they seem to be only delivering deluxe editions on those tiers, meaning, you get 1 item less for what they are advertising. Yes, you still get episode 1 through deluxe edition, but you aren't getting the standalone key, which is what i wanted for myself and give the deluxe key to a friend to play co-op. If they do not deliver on this, i will buy tier 1 again but future purchases they are literally screwed as i will always split between devs and charity 50/50. Things like this piss me off big time and i don't take it lightly. This is no different than buying a package at a store that contains 2 or 3 items, but the package was opened previously and is missing 1 item, i'm not sitting back and taking it up the arse like many do. If something is missing, i paid for it and i want it as it is advertised in the item box.

If it was a mistake, its their problem, not mine.

The amount of complaints regarding the bundle's price seems a bit exaggerated.
It may not be an advantageous deal for everyone, depending on their collection or preferences, but it doesn't change the fact that it is adequately priced for what it is.
Even if I had purchased everything I was missing at their historical low on grey markets, this was still on the cheaper end... and I'm obviously saying this as a frugal person.

As the series went on, they slowly turned more and more action-games, instead of the survival horror it started out to be.
RE4 was a campy, weird and kind of over the top game that first did that in the series, and became a huge fan favorite.
5 leaned heavily on the action but still was liked quite a lot, but had its issues with Games for Windows Live.
6 just got weird. Barely any horror so who liked the first games seen no value, and somehow they succeeded at losing the fans of 4 and 5.

7 turned it around with being first-person and a genuine survival-horror, that lead to 8 / Village which is afaik a direct sequel.
2-3 are fresh remakes of the originals, circling back to survival horror.

So technically 6 is older and/or much less liked than those.

RE4 was ported to pc after RE6 was released. Plus there is hype for RE4 because of the remake, so it makes a bit of sense to push that game towards the higher tier to try and milk players some more.

While RE4 is better than RE6, i wouldn't consider it as priority, if you have someone to co-op with, RE6 can be good. RE5, RE6, RE: R2, all of them are co-op focused, with there being a few limitations that force you to play something solo, but majority is co-op. RE4 is one of those games you play once, maybe twice, and put it aside. RE5, i've played it more than i should have back then, mostly because it had multiplayer stuff.

terrible pricing and tiers... As far as I can see there is only one great game between t1 and t2 (Resident Evil), and t3 is ridiculously expensive considering it's about the same price as RE2 + RE3 when they go on sale on steam...

I really wanted RE2, RE3 and RE4, but at these prices idek if it's worth it

t3 is ridiculously expensive considering it's about the same price as RE2 + RE3 when they go on sale on steam...

It includes two other games though.

EU lowest prices:
RE 2: 10,25€
RE3: 8,84€
RE7: 7,09€
RE4: 3,75€ (An outliner for sure)

Tier 3's historical lowest is about 30€, and tier 3 itself costs 20€, 66% of historical lowest.

The full bundle costs 30€ which is the equivalent of tier 3's lowest, but you also get 6 other games as well, and some can be sold quite well in group buys.

I know how much it sucks when you need to pay for tier 1-2 to get games from tier 3, but IMO this is a pretty good pricing for the games. Bundles are like this, an unfavorable tiering or owning/not wanting games can lead to a bad taste in one's mouth, even if the deal would be good for all the content.

If you're in the major geographical regions, it can be quite beneficial to check out group buys - RE7, Revelations 2, RE 0, 5 and 6 are all relatively sought after, one can get back about 10€ for these games if you check the recent split prices.

tier 3 itself costs 20€

I might be misinterpreting your comment, but if you mean on humble, where did you see this? It's 29.41 for me (EU).

Tier 1 at 1eu, tier 2 at 9.80, tier 3 at 29.41

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Tier 1+2 costs 9€.8, tier 1+2+3 costs 29.41€ --> tier 3 itself costs 29.41-9.8 = ~20€

For the 29.41 you get all the games, it's not a fair comparison with the historical low of 2 games.

ah I see. Well it makes sense, but there's virtually nothing I care about on tier 2, so it essentially goes from tier 1 to tier 3 for me and idk if I can justify spending 30eu for all those when I only care about 3 games (maybe 4 cause idk if I wanna get 7 or not yet) :(

Totally, I just meant it's a good deal if someone doesn't own anything. Not wanting to bother with selling, and being interested in only tier 3 makes it a really questionable thing. You can just buy a single game every sale and play them one by one without paying 30€ upfront, and maybe not even ending up enjoying the games.

fully agreed on t1, I would've bought it in an instance if I didn't already have REHD from a past steam sale. They're not necessarily "bad" games, I just haven't heard the best things about them and all the gameplay I've seen didn't really draw my attention, and they wouldn't have personally interested me regardless
