I had to google to find about where was it from. I need to actually check the movie or book someday, was a big fan of the manga from where it was based! :)

This is one of the extremely rare cases where I think the movie is better than the book. (Though I have only seen the first movie so far, and read all 3 books.) But as far as I remember the first book was fantastic, the second was kinda ok, and the third - I remember thinking, wtf happened to the author, did she forget how to write? It had atrocious pacing problems, a very passive hero, important minor characters casually killed off-screen and so on :/ (Sorry I'm salty af of how the author ruined the end of the series.) Based on the first movie that medium may work better for this story. I'm usually strongly against any changes in adaptations, but here the only tiny changes they did actually worked well. Anyway I'm gonna shut up now, go watch the movie :D

It been on my netflix list to watch for a bit now as I've been kinda rushed lately and end napping middle way of a lot of movied I try to check >.<
But gotta make a priority to check the movie on the first chance I get! Thanks for the tip!

And it's aways annoying when in the middle of a series the author seen to lost interest or just start rushing stuff to get it over for any reasons D= Is the book serie is still worthy to be checked or better leave that one to chance of tripping over the book someday?

Er, I really enjoyed the first book, the second was already a bit meh after that, and the third one I already ranted enough about, so if you want to give the book series a try, go for it, you start with the best one :D Just don't have high expectations for the later books.

But in comparison to the only movie I've seen so far, I don't remember you would get anything much in value over the movie. The books are very action-focused anyway, no deep philosophical ponderings, so the movie has much to work with. And the acting, visuals and music are also quite good, so for a newcomer I don't really see a reason why to prefer the books. (Unless the later movies somehow mess it up, but I hope in this case a large team working on the adaptation means that they keep the quality better balanced than the author did.)
