Description

If not from Europe, ever visited it? Where did you go? Did you like it? Any (other) european place you'd like to visit?

And if from Europe, where are you from? What places from your country would you suggest to other people? Would you like to visit other places in the continent?

I did! Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland. All great, but Spain was a little warm. Switzerland was my favorite.

I've never been to Europe but my ancestors are from there. ;)

Family comes from England, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands... and a DNA test said I have 15% Iberian though I haven't found any ancestor from there yet. :P

When I was younger, got to visit Germany, Austria, and Denmark on the same trip. Neuschwanstein and Legoland were highlights!
Would love to go back to Europe in general, but especially to France, Italy, England, and Spain.

Hope you can manage to fulfill your wish then! There are travel packages for touring around for relatively cheap, if you ever find the time, you could see if one of them fills your interest and relive the experience.

Been to Amsterdam briefly once and I love looking at all the beautiful architecture. Had some Dutch fries (with cheese) too :) Even though it was near the end of winter, it was still so cold though! ....aaannnd you've probably guessed it - I caught the flu on the way back :P

Haha, nice souvenir! But not one you want to keep for long. Right now there's the coronavirus edition around, which I hope doesn't get too popular, but maybe once the craze dies down, you can visit again.

Terribly sorry, I should have been clearer - that trip happened a few years ago. It was the first time I was in Europe so it was particularly memorable... and it's not just because I caught the winter flu :)

And yeah, I do hope I'll get to visit Amsterdam again. Due to the trip being really brief, I've missed out on a lot of sights. I'd love to visit their famed tulip farms as well. Will have to go during Spring though!

I'm from Germany, just a few kilometres away from Switzerland and France.
I can recommend the Black Forest and basically all of Switzerland. It's nice over here :P

And I can really recommend visiting the Baltic States. I've been to Estonia and Latvia and found both very beautiful, concerning landscape, buildings inside the older cities (not the Soviet ruins, I'm talking about older stuff) and also people.

Switzerland, huh? Guess it's not a bad idea to get there and get some good chocolate!

Regarding the Baltic States, I heard they're a good visit if you're interested in history.

I've been to France, Spain, England, Czech Republic, Sweeden, Norway, Finland and The Netherlands.

I'm from Ireland.

Places in my country... hmmm....

A lot of people who come here make a beeline for the west coast for the landscapes. I recommend Killarney National Park if coming here for the scenery, it's absolutely beautiful. I've only made it there a couple of times myself since it's a about 200km from where I live. Blarney Castle isn't far from there where people come to kiss the Blarney stone (not recommended to actually kiss it imo, eww, lol). Also there is a monastery on top of a hill called The Rock of Cashel and it's pretty interesting to see. Looks like a castle on top of a rock, like what you'd see in movies where a wicked witch lives or something hahaha.

If you're into historical sites, the east of Ireland has some of the better ones. In Meath: Newgrange (passage grave older than Egypt Pyramids), Trim Castle (Used in the movie Braveheart, and is the biggest best-preserved Anglo-Norman castle in Europe.) and other medieval ruins in the same town, Hill of Tara, associated with St, Patrick is also an interesting place to visit. Also in the same county would be the Hill of Tlachtga which is the recognized origin site of Halloween where the Samhain gatherings were held in pagan times. In Wicklow: Glendalough, a monastery in the mountains. It has a volcanic lake and absolutely beautiful. Nearby there are Powerscourt house and gardens where you can go on some interesting walks and see some natural waterfalls etc.

I have never been, but I plan to travel up to Antrim to see the Giant's Causeway at some point. I've seen pictures of it and it looks absolutely amazing.

I suppose there are lots of other places on this island, but those are just a few of the ones that pop into my head.

Sounds like there's a lot of interesting places to look around there, one can take their sweet time with the ones you mention, and there's more? :O

Guess you're pretty happy to live there :)

Yeah, there's a lot more. =) There are many places on this island still that I have yet to visit and want to. I do indeed like living here. ^^

When I go to other countries, I love to travel around and check out the countryside, but also historical places because I find them interesting. They tell us so much about the culture in a country. =) I am so not a beach holiday person. Being Irish (and milk bottle white skin) I burn up like a lobster in the sun anyway. hahaha!

Not everyone likes travelling abroad, it's just fine. The US is enormous and probably you can see many good places without having to get out of it.

I'm from Poland. My suggestions would be Cracow, Torun or Tricity.

It's way too early for the longer answer :P

Well, sure, as long as you want to. I thought it was a fitting theme for the GA and that it could get someone to know a new vacation spot, as well as give an opportunity for people to show off the places they've been to.
