I hereby declare October to be D&D month. For the third Sunday, I present you something that is constantly popping up on most any nostalgia lists and articles trying to collect the highest-rated old-school cRPGs ever made.
I am a bit worried that I am wasting yet another key on some random guy who cannot even comprehend half of the stuff I written as the sentences have more than five words and some have more than two syllables, but that is life. There is enough circle-jerking on this site, I do not want to add to it, sticking to level 0 public and hoping.
Those who know the game can wager bets: if the winner would indeed play it and have not met BG2 before, would they be able to find the Staff of the Magi without any hint, help, or guides? My guess is "no, they wouldn't be able to exit the tutorial dungeon".

For what it's worth, I got into dnd and play it frequently, and have joined bunch of different groups, but apart from hearing tons of suggestions from my party members to try it out, I haven't actually played and dnd game yet so I'm for sure going to try my luck here! Thanks for the chance :)

I played some pen&paper D&D but I have to admit I enjoy systems that are more based on storytelling more (i.e. good roleplaying/storytelling is covered by the rules and gives you dice-rolling-advantages). D&D always had a feel of power gaming and class optimization feel in my experience.

I've been playing since the original D&D, but 2E is by far my favorite. As far as video game adaptations.....gold box for life, but the BG games are definitely good as well.
And no, I don't think the average joe gamer who's never played oldschool AD&D in person with an actual group would be able to figure it out either. They'd have to look it up, or just shrug, say "whatever, the graphics suck anyway" and uninstall.

Staff of the Magi? I have completed this game like 5 times and I can't remember that staff... hopefully only remember, because I played it like 10 years ago...
I remember collecting all those parts of weapons to connect them in the one, this was so amazing feeling to get them all.
btw why public lvl 0 giveaway, if you feel like the key will be wasted?

Because there are too few people gifting non-trash games to the general public (especially without the intention to advertise some shitty group/channel), which is segregating this site way beyond the healthy point.

you have a good point... recently it's really hard to find some gem like the ones you are making...

I have BG2 EE on my wishlist but I own the original version of the game both on CD and GOG and have beaten it a couple of times in the past.
Is it OK for me to enter? I do plan on continuing the saga with my character from BG1 EE :)

Sure. I generally say when not to enter in the descriptions.

I played most of BG1 back in the day, and loved it - never did move on to this one. I had it, back then, but I think from this vantage that I'm ready to try the Enhanced Editions now. I'm less of a purist these days than I was. And thanks for this chance!

I grew up on the RPG genre. I would have been so bored being stationed overseas without D&D and the wonderfully creative GMs that served with me. Thanks for the opportunity @talgaby.

Happy D&D month! Just leaving this here to prove I read the first eight words of the description, which I don't have to add is more than the requested 5 ;-)
