Description

Simple question for cool people who actually read descriptions - What game(s) have you been playing recently?

Contrast, a very neat puzzle game with interesting story using very cool shadow mechanism.

I remember some of my friends recommending this game. I guess I should try it out someday. How long is it?

3-6 hours I think, depending on how you play it. (So it's rather short.)

I've been playing Dishonored 1, I got that and Dishonored 2 as a christmas present from my GF, have yet to try out the second though, wanted to finish the first one first. I've also been playing a lot of Bindig of Isaac to try and get the newest unlocks, and recently got back in to Stellaris as well :) How about yourself? Thank you for the giveaway of course :)

Fellow Isaac player, huh? I also bought Afterbirth+ and spent way too many hours on it recently (eternal struggle: TBoI vs. the backlog).
And I actually replayed Dishonored 1 this year. Can't wait to get my hands on the sequel. I hope you'll have fun with it. :)

I guess it was a dumb question with that profile pic of yours ;) I'm still strugling with the Keeper. He's a tough one to get going. I'm sure I'll enjoy Dishonored 2 when I get around to it. Grabbing it in a future sale maybe? Have a great weekend :)

Keeper was the last character I "completed" in Afterbirth and I'm definitely leaving him for last again. :P
And when it comes to Dishonored 2, I'm planning to get it after upgrading my computer (it's funny since I did an upgrade for first game too). Hopefully it'll be cheaper then.

I'm considering leaving him for last as well. I might also go in the opposite direction and just try to knock everything out with him first to get it over with!

Buying a new PC or new parts at least is always a good feel :3 Any idea when or what you're gonna buy?

Fortunately, only my CPU really needs an upgrade, the rest is pretty modern. Unfortunately, it means I also need to change the motherboard' cause of the sockets.
And when? As soon as I can afford it. :)

Is this the "Bloodline Champions v2.0"? I usually try to stay away from online competitive games, but after hearing about this concept I was really close to making an account. I think it was in closed beta or something and that's what stopped me back then. But now I definitely don't have time for online games.

Yes. It helps that the matches are short. It's still in Early Access, though.

I would love to play it someday with my group, it looks like it could be really fun this way. But I wonder - doesn't it get repetitive after a while? How much content got added after release? It didn't look like a game with much replayability back then.

It is not more or less repetitive than other games are where you would say "this might gets repetitive very fast". It is very addictive and you wann play it again and again. There are still bugs so you can wait until you have 3 other players together to start gaming with you.

This game offers a lot of possible play styles and objects on the different maps are randomly placed each time you play. Maybe if a free weekend is coming again soon you should try it with friends.

There is one free content added after relese and 2 contents which you have to pay for.

Just finished a hidden-object point and click. Before that is Stardew Valley. And I think I'll make a return to Gemcraft, which was before Stardew.

Ah yes, Gemcraft... One my biggest surprises from this year. I was expecting it to be good when I bought it, but now it's probably my favourite TD game.

First time hearing about Crossout and I only know the most basic stuff about Astroneer. But I see both of those are in early access. Would you say they're worth they money already?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Astroneer worth it in terms of gameplay and content already but they must fix the bugs and the lag. At the moment, the multiplayer is laggy for the host and buggy for the player joining the game. Stills, I play with a friend and it's a lot of fun if you like games like minecraft.

To become a must-have, Astroneer will need more content to make sure you don't always do the same thing. The team is working on all those points.

Crossout will be a free-to-play by the end of February, paying now will only give access to premium items. I just love creative games and I was looking for a custom vehicles ''war'' game for a long time. At the moment, the grinding is taking a long time but if you like building stuff and sending it against others player creations then yeah, nice game.

I was close to buying this bundle, but in the end I decided not to 'cause of my enormous backlog. But after yesterdays reveal I feel kind of bad for that, it was truly a great deal.

None, I haven't had the time. and so the backlog grows ><

Once I finally have some gaming time, first on my list it to work out how to finish the Witcher 2s tutorial.

Yeah, I'm dealing with the backlog problem right now too. And it's only getting tougher every month.
Witcher 2 has been on my backlog for a while now. I want to finish the first one before that but the last time I tried that I got stuck in the stupid swamp level.

I have been playing VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action. I like games that I can just relax and play to enjoy an engaging story with deep characters, and VA-11 Hall-A has been a wonderful experience.

Also, I have been enjoying Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide and have been playing that game with some friends. I find rats adorable, so I can play this game without having to scare myself all of the time and just focus on survival and looking out for my friends.

I remember when I first heard about VA-11 Hall-A. It was a short review, but right after reading it I added the game to my wishlist.
And I've been hearing a lot about Vermintide recently, because someone I know is testing things in it right now. :)

Never heard about it, checked Steam's store page and I still don't know how this plays. How does it work?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's a casual puzzle game with a zen mode, where you just draw lines and if two lines cross this point geht bigger and a journey mode where you have to connect boxes with your drawing, but sometimes there are obstacles or the boxes are moving or you don't draw where your cursor is, instead there is another cursor with a lag and so on... It's for time, where you don't want to think that much but also don't want to do really boring stuff ;-)

It's an MMO right? How big/active is the community?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is an MMO. I see people running around all the time, not just in the main community areas, so there's that (at least on the server I'm on - Daemon) As far as group/guild work, I'm all solo at the moment, so I can't say much more there. There are two different PvP modes, and one (persistent, not instanced) is almost always near empty.

Overall, probably not the biggest player base, but neither is it dead.

Leaving aside Steam, I played Steins;Gate 0 (December 2015). It's a Visual Novel (VN), "sequel" of Steins;Gate (2009). It has an anime adaptation which is highly recommended, if someone doesn't like to play VN; if you enjoy VN, then it's a must play.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I remember that my friend was really into the anime when it came out. I don't remember hearing about the game before that and so I always though it must be based on the anime, not the other way around. Good thing you told me, I'll try to get my hands on the original. :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh, to make sure I didn't put the wrong idea, Steins;Gate 0 doesn't have an anime, although I think there's already plans for one, not sure.
For Steins;Gate (2009) there's the JAST version, release in 2014; and the Steam version that has 1080p. I have no idea if Jast is continuing selling, either physical or digital version, so... I don't know. The Steam version has a few problems related to te GUI, for which I think there's an unofficial patch. I'm not speaking for personal experience, just for reading the forums.
The anime uses the True ending. And the VN is known for... the need to use a guide for unlocking the true ending, due to the amount of flags it has.
For Steins;Gate 0, there's already a full translation patch, for either PC/Vita/PS3-4. I don't know when they would release a official English release.

Dota2, Mario Kart 8, Dark Souls 2, Kingdoms: New Lands

Pretty diverse. I guess you have something to play for every kind of mood. :)

But I really like this selection. I tried getting into Dota when it was still a WC3 mod, but it didn't work thanks to my horrible lack of skill back then. Mario Kart was the first game I got for my Game Boy Advance and I have very fond memories of it. I played the first Dark Souls and loved it, especially the combat style. I didn't finish it unfortunately, but I'm planning to replay it someday. And while I heard about Kingdoms way before it launched, only recently I realized that it's actually already out and added it to my wishlist.
