Hi I wanted to ask you a question about crunch. I'm not very good at this stuff but kinda learning. I have a problem and maybe you can help.
When I used it like this, why does it use 8 in different places too? I mean in the char set there is no 8, so it should be used only once which is 7th place, right? But I see that 8 is also placed in other orders. What am I doing wrong? I hope you understand my problem, it seems complicated :)

crunch 12 12 01234567 -d 2% -t 11%%%8%%%%%%

if you look at hints,
first, you are missing @ after -d 2
second, it is hint in a hint to use @ instead of %. mask with % number symbol works bit differently

Thank you for the hint. I tried with 2 and 2@ but looks like there is no difference. The mb and line count is the same. However if I use 2%, it gives different result but not sure why it is different.

On the other hand, my real problem is not that part but -t part. I am trying to learn how crunch works but " -t 11%%%8%%%%%%" is not working the way I wanted. As you see there is not "9" in character string but in the result I see 9. Also there is supposed to be only one 8 but I see 8 on different places too. I think I'm writing the pattern part wrong. That's what I'm trying to figure out.

By the way, I totally understand if you don't help me since it's a challenge :) I'm just trying to learn, and the giveaway will be just bonus if I crack.

i tried that % mask and it doesn't work for me either, so i don't know why, can search if needed. but if you try to use @ instead of % in mask, it should work properly

Okay thank you. I'll just keep looking for pattern settings. I'm still trying to figure it out how to apply some of the hints you give.
