Also, it's hard to have 17th digit in code made up of 10 digits and 26 letters. :p

I actually made giveaways 1st, and searched for a code resembling a word, and only then thought of using that picture.
Actually someone on imgur told me it's a heron, but oh well, crane fits my puzzle better :p

(Then again, I also never noticed that comments use more letters than everything else on SG for their IDs... in retrospect that makes a lot of sense.)

Well at least you taught me something, I assumed you need to know the discussion/giveaway thread to jump to a comment. And yeah, had to brute force the 17 thing, once it hit Q I instantly realized it was the seventeenth letter but that was for sure vague. I don't really like puzzles that misuse clear syntax, like using two equations here while not describing two things, but when I got it it seemed more clever then I thought :)
I have no idea why I didn't think to map it to the alphabet. I do that all the time...but for some reason, seeing it as a Roman numeral made it not even cross my mind. lol, feel so dumb. Thanks again for the GAs!
It's funny how what is essentially a children puzzle (I used to see a lot of rebuses in kid magazines) can stump so many adults with one small twist ^^
