Hah, sounds like you have the same problem I have with all those generic thanks messages. It feels so meeningless when they post a genwric, automated "thanks".
So this one is neither automated not generic.

Yes! I have gotten a wee bit tired of the generic "thanks for the gib", but I personally like being able to express appreciation for something I'm really excited about, so I don't want to discourage comments from any who do want to say something.
I also know what it is like to have even winners say nothing. (This latter annoys me as I was raised to always say "thank you" for a gift.) On the other hand, only saying "thanks" because of a feeling of obligation also seems trite. Thus my desire to encourage a more meaningful way of conversing on giveaways; a sort of "personal touch" to the message.
After all, meaningful conversation can draw in new (or new-to-each-other) people and can lead to friendships that will last and weave this community tighter together, and I want to encourage that possibility.

Ah yes, I undetstand what you mean. I know this place is not meant to be a social network but yet there are people winning games and still don't care about saying a single word of appreciation.
It also annoyes a bit to get notifications of new messages just to see them being generated by a bot. I also wish they wouldn't do that. All the hopes of conversation and then it just results in needless clicks...
Ah well, I guess thats the Internet these days. After all that place here might feel like a simple generic lottery, just clicking some links, receiving games every other week/month... who cares about politeness these days.
So yea, I haven't won the game but I'm still thankfull for the chance.
Haven't checked yet but have you played it? Looks like a Kerbal-Lite game which sounds great. But would be good to have ypur impressions on that. Or did you gift it because you don't like these games?
