< Stage 12 - Home - Stage 14 >
With 4,400 vertical metres, arguably the hardest stage of this year's Tour. It will be battlestations from the start and the eventual winner might well be one of the GC contenders.
Winner: Daniel Martínez
Chateau de Val
Built in the 15th century, Val has become almost insular since the creation of the Bort-les-Orgues dam. Its exceptional setting makes it one of the most famous sites in the region. The fortress is flanked by six towers crowned with machicolations and topped with pepper shades.
Puy Mary
Seventy kilometers in diameter and 4,000 meters above sea level, it is the largest stratovolcano in Europe. Three million years after its eruptions ended, the crater has disappeared and seven glacial valleys formed the Cantal landscape. The massif consists of a single volcano, unlike the neighboring Puy-de-Dôme chain which is a chain of 80 volcanoes. Of the Cantal volcano, there remains only a group of around sixty Puys (mountains), the highest peaking at 1,855m (Plomb du Cantal).

Egan Bernal

I thought this stage was on Saturday!! , so I'll 99% miss it, aargh!
Anyway, if there's no break we'll probably see a real climber : Bernal for me too.

I don't think Bernal has it in him but I might be wrong. Normally I'd expect Quintana to attack today but I'm not so sure about his form either.
Have I predicted Tadej Pogačar yet? Let's go for him.Actually, lets save him for later in the Tour, with the final climb not being super hard there might still be a breakaway ahead, but who could be in it? If Yates was further behind I'd go for him. Let's go with Dan Martin; I would love to see him do well.
