Description

In the end of a year like this, with all the political and health-related opinions floating around, it is important to be able to communicate and stay healthy also in the mind.

Keep away from negative emotions and if you're the kind of person to gravitate towards anger, blaming, strict views that have become automated mental habits, then for the sake of your own health, soften up, sober up and snap out of it.

Having anger towards other people's wrong opinions, even for what could be good reasons, is harming yourself. Feeling angry is often caused by feeling helpless and frustrated, and it often is an overreaction. Situations or people are rarely as bad as we tend to see them. A major flaw in how we see is caused by our habitual lens of our own opinion and therefore oversimplification of what we see. When arguing with someone, due to ambiguities in words and tunnel-vision on both sides, we often fight against something that isn't actually there in the other person, and we do a disservice to our own cause, even if it is a good one.

Cut the world some slack and you will be able to reach other people with your opinion in a more effective way, especially on the internet. Keep away from oversimplyfing and seeing people or their opinions as stupid, or coming from bad intent, or being unchangeable. If someone feels that at least their opinion is understood (while not necessarily agreed), there is at least a chance that they consider to expand their view.

Well said.
