The year was 1994.... Shareware was all the rage.
My floppies of Duke 3D, Blake Stone, Wolfenstein, Doom... they're all splayed out in front of me. Oh there's Wacky Wheels and
Raptor!
How many hours I played that shareware level...how many hours, do you get scared

It's meant to be there. Just my inane rambles :)

Rambling is good for the soul :D
Damn those were the days, having the time to play through shareware versions of games again and again because that's the only thing you have to play xD
Try Tyrian if you haven't already, a big recommendation from me

Can't recall Tyrian at all. I'll have to take a look for sure! For some reason, the first google image result reminded me of a game completely unrelated that was also shareware: God of Thunder and holy crap look, it's free on steam!
That game gave me too much frustration as a kid. I still remember to this day a part of a maze/puzzle with serpents; if you walk into their field of view it was an intsa-kill.
These were my all-time top played shareware's of the day:
The games back then felt so difficult.
I remember trying to con a sibling into conning my parent into buying "us" the full version copy of Doom. "But, it's got pink monsters!" was a(n attempted) major selling point.

Haven't played God of Thunder but Wacky Wheels, that game is probably the reason why I love racing games xD
And Skyroads, lot of hours were wasted jumping around :D
Buying games, right, where I'm from you couldn't buy original games in that time. You just played shareware or borrowed games from people who had family abroad. But it was fun nevertheless!

I soooo wanted to play the Whacky Wheels full version back then, but never got to.
Instead i got my hands on Bifi - 2 Fast 4 You by phoning a hotline and waiting for the mail delivery.
The things you do when youยดre young :D
