So you are saying it doesn't activate in Steam? You would need the DVD to play it?

But it is still a form of piracy. You can trade that key out a million times, and it would work with every copy because it is an installation key, with unlimited usages. I could go and download a copy of WaW, use deamon tools to run the .img/.iso file, and install it with the key you are trading. I have not purchased the game, I have illegally downloaded it, which makes it piracy. You are basically selling a cd key to people who have illegally downloaded it, making it piracy. If anything, this is worse than piratebay. You are looking to make a profit from farming out the WaW key, whereas they do it for free.

That is not what i am saying at all. What I am saying is you are trying to trade a retail key, that can be used an unlimited amount of times, to someone who has not purchased the game. If they have not purchased WaW, and you give them the key to get a downloaded version to work, that is piracy. And by your logic, I purchased Green days latest album, so I can copy and trade it to anyone I want to. That is in no way different to what you are doing. Lets say someone has downloaded WaW from piratebay. Most people know, games downloaded from there are cracked, and thus not playable online. Now you trade your retail key to them, for a profit I might add, and now they can get the full features of that game, and not pay for it. That is the definition of Piracy. It is piracy when you can download a copy of the game without paying for it, regardless whether or not it has features missing. You can use that retail key as many times as you want, you can also sell the key, along with the disk and book that the key is written on as used, basically passing the ownership rights to someone else. You can not make a copy of the key or a copy of the game. you can not redistribute the game, or the key. If you do it is piracy. And you call yourself a lawyer. I would let Micky mouse represent me in court before you.

If you trade your key with someone, you have to trade the original with the disk. You are a moron. What you are doing is illegal you even admitted to it without even realising.

"And you're wrong about the Green Day album. While you CAN get a copy to yourself, you can't distribute copies for profit."

That is exactly what you are doing with the CD key. If you were trading the game and sending the physical CD and the key, then yes, you would have every right to do so. But what you are doing is selling the key, on its own, without proof that you will never use or play the game again. If you want to trade the game, you can but you have to give the disk as well. You can not go into a game store, and give them a copy of the CD key and say you want something in return. Seriously if you really are a lawyer, and not pretending to be like a 5 year old pretends to get married to someone in the playground, then you really need to find another profession. There is a reason why no one has offered a trade to you, because they all know what you are doing is piracy. You are the only person on steam trades who thinks otherwise. Your obligation in the trade is to trade the game. not a key that allows someone access to the game (Steam keys work different, because they are one time activation, once it is used, you can not use it again, unlike yours which is unlimited). As I said previously, You can trade the game, you can sell the game, you can not trade or sell just the CD key.

And believe me I know about this subject. I work damn hard to stop people like you, doing what you do. I helped get all the illegal copies of games/music etc removed from mininova, and I am damn proud of it as well. I helped get ISP providers in the UK to block people using piratebay, and I am damn proud of it.

And yes that is exactly what I am saying. If you lose the disk and then download a copy from piratebay, it is piracy. If I lose my Green Day album, I can't go and download a free copy from piratebay because I have owned it previously.

but how do we know you are not keeping the CD key? this is my point entirely. What you are doing is a form of piracy whether you think so or not. The only LEGAL way for you to trade that game is with the disk as well. You points are basically because it is yours you can do what you want with it. That is the most moronic argument ever, and coming from a so called lawyer makes it even more so. Do you even know the definition of piracy? I will give you a lesson.

Software Piracy - The unauthorized copying of software. Most retail programs are licensed for use at just one computer site or for use by only one user at any time. By buying the software, you become a licensed user rather than an owner. You are allowed to make copies of the program for backup purposes, but it is against the law to give copies to friends and colleagues.

Lesson number 2

EULA - Short for End-User License Agreement, the type of license used for most software. An EULA is a legal contract between the manufacturer and/or the author and the end user of an application. The EULA details how the software can and cannot be used and any restrictions that the manufacturer imposes (e.g., most EULAs of proprietary software prohibit the user from sharing the software with anyone else).

So yes you can make a back up copy of the game, but no you can not trade it. Read the EULA that comes with the game, you will then realize that you do not own the key or the game itself, you have purchased a license (in this case a CD key) for you own use. technically if you ever installed the same software onto more than one PC, that is Piracy. You should really read the EULA before spouting off and making yourself look a total cock!
