in this day and age where privacy is of major concern to people across all forms of technology
AFAIK there are still just about as many people using Facebook and Google so I wouldn't get such high hopes yet... π

...unless you've already chosen to have your profile public, in which case the setting fucks with that decision.
But understandable - I'd rather any privacy setting (anywhere) to be "best privacy" by default.

I really wonder what Valve does with all that money ...

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to post a quick update about the downtime for the past hour. It looks like Steam is experiencing difficulties, and this is resulting in their API responding slowly, or with errors. As you know, our site syncs user accounts on a regular basis, and this caused all of our web server connections to be tied up, waiting for the Steam API to respond to our syncing requests. Since the connections were all in use, the site was timing out when users were waiting for a connection to view the site.
For now, I disabled syncing. I'll keep on eye on the Steam API, and when it's responding in a timely manner, enable it again. Thanks for understanding and sorry about the downtime.
