For some reason whenever I try to play my friend's library on my account,it won't let me. It tell's me it belongs to him and I can either request access to his library or buy the game myself. I've already had his games working before but for some reason it stopped working all of a sudden. It doesn't have anything to do with someone else using his account, and he didn't revoke me access,as it is also not letting me access my alternate account's games, and he's offline.

I looked under the Family tab under the options menu and it DOES say that this computer is authorized, and so is my account. Any help is greatly appreciated,I'm trying to continue playing the Walking Dead before Episode 3 comes out tommorrow.

If he is playing the game that you want to play you will not be able to play it.

None of his friend's are playing his games,he's offline and it would say that someone is using his library. Plus I can't even access my own alternate account's games, which only I have access to

Eh, I had the same problem. It's because recent Steam update deleted saved permissions. Go tell him to open settings, family tab, and recheck permissions for you to play, done.

It sounds like you checked your own settings, no, for sharing to work HE needs to do it, then both of you have to restart Steam.

I tried to do this for a friend who had the same issue, I unchecked his name then closed settings and opened it again to recheck, but his name had disappeared from the list. His computer is still authorized though, is there any way to grant him access without the whole logging into his computer process again?

If he has one of your games installed on his computer, when he hits play, I think there's an option to request access via email. I lost 3 family sharing things about a week ago, and my sister was the only account that had a game installed on my computer, and we were able to get it back pretty quickly that way.

My brother and my sister's fiance's libraries will both take longer to get back, though. Sigh. Note to self, install one of each people's games so the request access via email is there for everyone.

Yeah you need to reauthorize your computer/user to his steam account.

Play it manually without Steam? Or does this game have something you absolutely need Steam for?
