How often do you request refunds for Steam purchases?
Before the automated refunds I once asked the support about a package I got and the store page said you get a gift, but there was no gift. Ends up it was an error and no gift to share with a friend. Steam support apologized for the error, changed the store page immediately and asked if I want the refund for the entire package. I was like, meh, no. It was a small purchase. I don't think I've ever done a refund on Steam. But then again I don't do blind purchases (most games I have in the library that I don't know what they are and stuff came from random bundles from few years ago, before I stopped buying random bundles).

I requested a few over the years, mostly due to not liking the camera/controls or the game not running well or game seemed different to what was expected.

I think I've used it only once, and it was for ARK: Survival Evolved because it was super-unoptimized and didn't work well on my PC.

I refunded Alaloth this year because I died to a group of "easy" bad guys, and I hate my char dying in games. Reviews say it takes more than 2 hours to learn, and I wasn't enjoying it significantly more than any number of other games I've not yet played but look forward to.
I refunded Dungeons of Dredmor, Hand of Glory, and Combat Wings on Dec 1, 2022 so that I could buy them during the winter sale at a cheaper price or at least Event Cards.
i refunded Need for Speed Rivals Complete Edition back in January of 2022 because it wasn't fun.
I refunded Railroad Pioneer because it was in a BundleStars bundle in July, 2019, and I only noticed or recalled after buying the game from steam.
I refunded Sims 3 on Jan 10, 2017 because, at the time, I had no mouse wheel and that game requires a mouse wheel to zoom.

Rarely, I have two refunds in my purchase history. Pylon, in 2018, but that was a gift to a friend for his birthday. I don't remember the reason, but it looks like I ended up refunding the game and buying him another one instead. And then, there's Devour in 2022. I know you're supposed to play in coop, but I tried the game solo and I thought it was just terrible. I've bought some games that, in the end, I didn't really like, but it was the first time that I refunded one for that reason.
Edit: now, most of my games come from bundles, but it seems that I made 160 purchases on the Steam store since I created my account in 2012. I'd say two refunds ain't that bad.

I don't purchase a ton of things on the Steam store, but when I buy something on Steam very rarely do I refund it. The last time I did a refund was in 2020. It was for a game I didn't play yet and I believe the refund was due it being in a bundle that came out shortly after I made the purchase on Steam.

I couldn't refund most of the games I bought through Steam because I'd be past the 2hr mark by the time I realized I didn't like them, but I did refund one game: when I told my brother I bought Portal, he decided to buy it as well, even though we have Family Share active and he could just play it through my account, so I refunded my purchase and played it through his account.

When I did requested was mostly due my system being unable to run it despite meeting the low spec or was close to unplayeable.
In other instance been when a game constantly crashed or seemed to have some form of unplayeable issue.
In both instances refunding gave me more time to check the forums and research how to improve the game's perfomance and issues, and later on purchased said games again, what I researched worked out and actually was able to play and enjoy them.

I can't really remember the exact game bundle I requested a refund for. There was that, as well as a larger bundle with those and different games, and I had accidentally bought the wrong bundle.
That's the only time I requested a refund so far.

Occasionally. Last one was Fight'N Rage even if It was super cheap. Less appealing that It look. It's good I never won that game here despite a lot of giveaways.
Just like Maya, demos are a medular part when It comes to games. It should be a standard.
Also, I really don't understand why some of the devs delete the demo at some point.
Example: Lunar and Zero Sievert. It doesn't matter if It's alpha or beta, you still get a glimpse of It.

I rarely buy games on Steam for myself. When I do, I occasionally refund as the 2 hour demo of the game allows me to.
When I get a Steam key from Fanatical or Humble, I know that theres no refund. The price is right without demoing the game and eat the cost if I dont like the game.

Never... I usualy investigate well the game I am trying to buy...
But in the case of FIFA23, I bought it to play with some friends but the game never worked well, steam marks me 6 hours of use, and was around 4-5 hours trying to run the game...
I failed investigating :/

I've used it a couple of times, mostly because I regretted an impulsive purchase or a better offer appeared on Steam itself. They denied it once because the refund windows was just 14 days instead of the 30 GOG offers and I mixed the duration. I shouldn't have bought P5 on release day.

I try to be careful buying games while checking on steamdb. So my history of refund has only been once which I did to buy the games separately.
So I had finished witcher 1 & decided to buy witcher 2,3 in the complete the set bundle. I didn't notice that the witcher 3 was just the base game & there was no discount for witcher 3 complete edition.
So I refunded it & bought witcher 2 and witcher 3 complete edition seperately.

I've only made two refunds and they were both for cosmetic DLCs -- Dead by Daylight - The 80's Suitcase and Dead by Daylight - The Bloodstained Sack. I forget the reason I refunded. Probably I wasn't that impressed with the cosmetics or I didn't really play DBD enough to justify buying cosmetics or maybe both.

Years ago, when refunds were first available I made use of it for some recent purchases, and then some additional games I bought during the next sale or two but didn't enjoy within two hours.
I haven't requested a refund in years though - might correlate to mostly buying games from bundles and other stores now that Steam sales are a bit lackluster (instead of 75-90% off being common, we mostly get 40-65%), whereas I used to buy mostly from Steam.
I do hate the two hour limit though - I definitely would have refunded Marvel's Avengers preorder after bugs started crashing my game constantly... 15 hours in.

How frequently do you find yourself asking for a refund after making a purchase on Steam? If you've requested one in the past, what was the reason for it (e.g. Did the game not work on your system? Was the gameplay not what you expected?). I can't say I've personally used the feature, but it's certainly a nice option to have as a consumer, and I'm wondering how often people are putting it to use.
