[Userscript] steamgifts.com shortcut keys

update 2016-04-14 I rewrote the help popup for clarity, and added support for HTTPS (which steamgifts now uses)

Here's a userscript I made to add some useful shortcut keys to this site: steamgifts.com shortcut keys.

  • ctrl+space give focus to the comment/reply textbox
  • ctrl+e enter giveaway
  • ctrl+shift+e remove giveaway entry

While typing a comment or reply these additional shortcut keys are available

  • ctrl+enter submit your comment
  • alt+o insert the name of the author of the original post, i.e. the creator of the giveaway or discussion topic
  • alt+r or alt+p insert the name of the author of the person to whom you are replying

I made this for Greasemonkey/Firefox, and as I find the time I'll make sure it works for other browsers and userscript extensions too. On Chrome (with Tampermonkey) the ctrl+space, alt+o, alt+r and alt+p shortcuts are working, and I'll have the rest functional too soon.

Even though im not a keyboard-shortcuts person thats a nice script. A suggestion: Maybe on of the alt+r / alt+p would be useful to add a "@" in front of the name.

New update:

  • A help window is added to tell you about all the shortcut keys available
  • Use ctrl+left/right to go back/forward a page in the giveaway list
  • Ctrl+E now selects the search box (except on giveaway pages, where it is used to enter a giveaway)
  • Shortcuts for entering/removing entries now use Ctrl instead of Alt

Been ages since I worked on this script, but steamgift's move to HTTPS prompted an update for compatibility. I took the opportunity to reword the list of shortcut keys in the help popup.
