If THQ are stuck for money then why did there president pay $10,000 for the humble bundle.
Also i thaught they would make so much more money considering how much they sold in the first day.
What do you guys think, was it a good bundle over all ??

The 10K was probably from his own account. Don't care too much about it.

Overall, it was a very good bundle. Would have loved to see Space Marine in there, but you can't have everything.

nothing to do with sr3 being a bad game but i think to many people already had it and therfore didnt want to beat the average because it costs more.

Yeah, this was me. I owned SR3, so I only paid a buck when the bundle started and got everything else for free when it was released.

He paid it out of his own pocket, I'm sure. It sends a message about how he believes in the company.

Yes, it was a great bundle overall. It might surpass HIB V in sales.

1 decade ago

Not really. It was probably just a PR stunt. Money to charity is fine, of course, but he managed to donate in such a way that everyone heard about it.

Even if it was just a stunt to get everyone to see that THQ is being generous and whatnot, some of the money still goes to HiB and Donations. Heck, we don't know how much he even put for it, for all we know the guy could've put half the money to charity and the other half to HiB as thanks to them.

FYI he gave all the money to charity with that 10k.

Was a great bundle. Though the best games from it have been free in the past.... ( Metro went free recently and Darksiders was free with that Gamestop thing. )

EDIT: Just realized his 1k(or whatever) went to charity, no clue about the 10k.

Yeah, I forgot Game Informer gave me Dark Siders for free in there little sweepstakes.

THQ did a top notch job with there old games.

it was from his pocket and he gave everything to charity... good karma, is what he gained...

and yes, it was very good bundle... I had all the games before so I only gifted one to my friend but I have to say that Metro2033 and Darksiders are two most underrated games I played in past few years. Especially Darksiders which was propably first game that I enjoyed as much as games from God of War series...

I'll be really happy when the other big game companies, like EA will realize, that they can earn more money if they make bundles from their old games.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

EA is to stubborn to do this but i would like to see more bundles from big developers instead of it being more of an indie thing.

1 decade ago
Permalink

yeah mot you'll see an EA game on sale is 50%

1 decade ago

mfw tons of ea games on sale for 75%, although i wont go against the opinion of ea being complete douchebags i agree

1 decade ago
Permalink

I really, really hope this doesn't happen. I want humble INDIE bundles in the future. I don't want the HIB to get too many big names. This sets a really bad precedent in my opinion...

1 decade ago

that's why the games are needed to be older, but still good games.

And what is the problem with doing a few "big name" bundles here and there. Yes, the focus should remain on indie devs, but there's no reason to cry if they decide to have a big name dev jump in once every 3 months or something.

Good bundle, THQ got some quick cash and their stock prices increased. Who knows, maybe sales of their other games will increase now.

+1, also taking into account. there is proof that, at least in the early days. Those figures were fudged. Fake donators bumping up the top contributions etc

I'm just saying, this new one my THQ president could be fake too

Guess it could be, but I doubt it. $10k is nothing to the president of a large corporation, they make ridiculous salaries.

It was probably the best bundle in a very long while, even being measured against other great HiBs of the past. They also made a pretty decent amount of cash. You can't expect pay-what-you-want to deliver tens of millions.

That said, I was also hoping for Space Marine, but I lucked into winning it in the meantime, so I'm only lamenting my lost chance at SR3.

1 decade ago
Permalink

$10K dollars won't matter so much to THQ. They need couple of millions to get back of their feet.
It was a great bundle. Probably most of the people will buy DLCs to SR3 and THQ will earn some more money. They others are just Afaik.

It's obviously a way of him saying thank you humble bundle for helping them in their financial crisis and thanking all the buyers (leechers or not) for helping them get through their rough patch and keeping their company afloat. Though I've seem SOOOO much media hate for the THQ HiB, I'm happy with what they did and that I could help keep a company alive.
