Pretty much all of my unsent giveaway won games have been the result of the other person not answering or adding me on steam IN TIME to give the gift game to them BEFORE IT EXPIRES or the GAME SALE EXPIRES, which was the whole reason i wanted to even do the giveaway.

Just like now im having to deal with some Ukrainian person whos in war battlefield while using his sparetime to win games in steamgifts, and its frustrating to spend time trying to contact these people. Have sent him email, have tried to add to friend on Steam twice, he has been on the site clearly, since he marked my giveaway already as unreceived, so.. Ugh.

Like man... I would give u the game if u would just accept me as friend LIKE I SAID on the giveaway. Private message or chat system would make it so easy to just message and tell with google translator in Ukrainian that he won and needs to accept me as friend in steam temporary so i can send it.

If it has been over 1 week, you can request a re-roll. If it has been less than that, you're taking that risk yourself by giving away games that are currently on sale with the expectation that you'll be able to buy it for the winner within less than a week of them winning it - I'd say give yourself a minimum of two weeks to get the game you want to giveaway at the price you want, so that you cover for one week inactivity by the winner, then the re-roll and another week for the re-rolled winner.

But in general, I recommend just not doing giveaways with Steam games on sale, it's too high-risk. If at all possible, I'd buy keys from official Steam games stores like Humble Bundle, Fanatical, etc.

As for the actual point of this thread... DM system won't happen, I'm sure. It was brought up and discussed multiple times (you can do a quick search of the forum to see that) and many flaws with such a system were brought up, and general unwillingness to implement such a feature. SG hasn't had a major update in years, I doubt we'll see any new feature any time soon, let along one that might bring many new issues with the website.

Yah in the future i have to start thinking about this week thing, kinda frustrating though since i would like to give the games always within the day i make them. And ya i usually buy just keys from sites.

you can try commenting on their public giveaway to give a notification on steamgifts. i know it's still problematic (especially if they don't have public giveaways), but at least that's a start.

I've been here for a while, but it's an idea that I'd never thought of. I think it'd be pretty neat, though also I'd understand if cg wouldn't want to implement such a feature due to it being too complicated for a secondary feature or too demanding for the network or even if there were worries about community management load being added due to PM harassment.

It's neat, but I'd understand if this wasn't an option in the dev's eyes basically. Good suggestion though!

Yah, it would make things for giveaway creators easier though, if theres a problem in getting reach with someone on a giveaway that isnt as a key but a friendlist gift.

I think this was asked for long ago and shot down due to it being to easy to abuse and spam people or send bad links

So, person was on the site and ignored his won, and ignored description in giveaway. What makes you think that he won't ignore your message as well?

I fail to see how things will speed up if the rules is still 7 days?

Maybe the benefit would be for the gifter to have onsite proof that he's on the up and up, but the problem is on the other end? Dunno.

Um, isn't the e-mail for your winner exposed for you? Just write them an e-mail, that's official as communication gets. It's on the decline, but e-mail is still important for many people.

(if it's not a spam / junk-mail obviously)

Using an offer from Steam's weekly sales for a giveaway is risky as the winner has seven days to accept his win. You might also ponder level requirement as there seems to exist a strong correlation between SG level of the winner and problematic outcomes for the giveaway creator.

[how to contact]

  1. from Steam!
  2. E-Mail(It is also a good idea to grant the winning Giveaways titles based on past experience.)
  3. open the last one of the SteamGifts winners' "SEND" and post a Comment.
(You can also use it to tell Support as proof that you tried to give the prize to the winner. But please don't send a lot of them.)

[If we can't reach you]
Apply for a reroll after the stipulated number of days have passed.

[If you contacted the winner and saw the prize, but it was not added to the library and you did not receive a reply].
Report that in Support and wait for a response.
If Support contacts the person in question and there is no response, some kind of action will be taken.

FAQ

What should I do if the winner of my giveaway has not redeemed their gift, and I'm unable to get into contact with them?

If you contacted the winner of your giveaway on email and Steam over one week ago and they have not yet responded or redeemed any keys or gifts you attempted to send, please contact support to request a new winner. When creating a ticket, we ask you to include data that suggests you made an adequate attempt to contact the winner, such as screenshots of emails, friend requests, or gifts pending on Steam. If the request is approved, a new winner will be generated by the site.
