Would you buy it? And by 'Trading Cards' I mean the Steam Trading Cards you earn by playing games.

...? No?

Cards have a specific, definite use in the Steam client - crafting badges. You use em for that, or sell / trade them. This is a dumb idea.

Yeah, it probably is. But more people would buy cards just to play the game.

If I remember well, this was an idea Valve had when they created the cards

I thought about this too, they could make a card game, so ppl can use their Steam Trading Cards to play, and emoticons as spells, reminds me of Hearthstone.

Emoticons as spell, that's a cool idea.

I can't see why someone would want to waste their cards like that instead of crafting the badge(s) they want or selling them on the market O.o

Because there is no reason why to craft badges, they give nothing.

That's why you craft during sale!

Well, it depends ;)
Crafting badges gives you XP, backgrounds and emoticons.

Some people couldn't care less about that, while others love collecting those very much ;)

I think it would be neat to have a card game something like MTG but based on the cards you have in your inventory and you do battle with them either vs AI with random cards or another person. I wouldn't want people to loose their cards if they lost a game, so nothing like that.

Even have it setup so that the more expensive the card, the more "rare" it is so stronger it is. Course the strength and rarity of the cards would change over time which could make for some interesting games.

Not sure how something like that would be done, but its an interesting concept.

Nope, you are looking for card games that dont allow trades -> 2 examples without much thinking Hearthstone, Clash of Dragons

Rather than a game like that, I want to see a Steam version of Cards Against Humanity.

I wouldn't buy it, no. I might play it if it was free to play should you choose to play for fun, and then on top of it you could play for cards too. It would depend on the format and how many cards you can win/lose with each game.

I don't play any card games besides poker so I don't know how they typically work. If you could choose the number of cards you could put up as your buy-in, say 1-5 then I'd possibly be interested. I wouldn't want to lose all my cards, or a significant number of them in one game.

Edit: I wouldn't be bothered about actually using the cards I own within the game, but a game that utilised cards in general and had them as something you could win/lose would be good. Not sure how that would fit in with gambling laws when it comes to the US in particular and gambling laws regarding under 18s in general. It probably wouldn't.

steam was not stupid when they did the card this helps off set the deep discounts as they get like 1 cent of each card that was sold 100 cards is 1 dollar 1,000 cards is 100 and so on i am sure they sold a ton of them during the summer sale

i think there could maybe be a card game if it did not actually take away your cards but you had to have the card to make a deck or something along those lines

though i am not to much into the card thing and i do not get to serious about it i do collect them but i have a hard time paying money for things like a emote and backgrounds in game items would be a better deal

none the less i am sure hardcore people would play a card game with the games
