I'm planning on cooking a meal for friends with dishes that have a city/town name in it.
Like Chicken Kiev, Wiener Schnitzel, etc.
Why? Well, why not? I think its a cool idea but havent found much interesting yet.

I'm looking for all kinds of food: soups, main dishes, sidedishes, desert, etc

I'm not looking for regions, states, countries, etc. Just cities.

Can you name some? Maybe some local food? Oh, and it would be nice if it doesnt taste like crap ;)

I know this isnt the most logical place for a question like this but I'm curious what you can come up with.

AWESOME PEOPLE!!!! There are so many great options already

Kendal Mint Cake - more of a town than a city. Tastes like toothpaste.
Eccles cake - again a town
Bakewell Tart - and again
Spaghetti Bolognese/Milanese, maybe with some Parmesan cheese from the city of Parma.
Speaking of Parma, Parma ham.
Didn't Kennedy once say "ich bin eni Berliner?" which was supposed to be a donut?
Loads of German sausages that have already been said.

List of French cheese.
If you want a better list, try the French page.
Around 70% of our cheese names come from citys names, the rest from regions names.
Otherwise, there is the Salad Niçoise, from the city on Nice.

Let's get to some things in my part of the world...

Santa Fe Chicken

Oaxacan Hot Chocolate

Oaxacan Cheese (is a cheater, since it's likely named after the state and not the city, but...)

5,000 things that are New Orleans or New Orleans-style

Memphis-style many things as well (mostly meats)

Key Lime Pie (again, a stretch since named after the lime, which is named for all of the keys and not just Key West)

Jalapeño Peppers in any preparation - named for Xalapa, Veracruz

Kansas City Ribs

Huevos Motuleños (these are really great breakfast, BTW)

Bombay Bhelpuri, Bikaneri Bhujia [hors d'oeuvres served with drinks]; Hyderabadi Biryani [main course served with Raita curd]; Mysore pak [dessert] should make for a nice themed meal, not sure if you're planning to mix & match cuisines or how available the ingredients would be there.
Good luck, happy cooking :)

From the region I'm originally from a soup called "Zalewajka Łódzka" ("Łódź Zalewajka" where Łódź is city name and Zalewajka is traditional polish soup. While usually Zalewajka is made based on sausage stock, "Zalewajka Łódzka" is made based on wild mushroom soup.

Recipe:

Make a vegetable stock.

In meantime soak dried wild mushrooms.

Add water from soaking mushrooms to cleared stock.

Put in diced potatoes and let them cook.

Add soaed mushrooms, sliced onions (both fried and raw) and sliced raw garlic, cook for few minutes.

Most important for any "Zalewajka" - add Sourdough Starter (pre-fermented flour and water - usually used to make bread, you can easily prepare it by yourself at home ;> ). Add quite a bit of it, as "Zalewajka" is always supposed to be sour soup.

At the end add sour cream.

Based on how your initial stock turned out you may season it using a little bit of salt and pepper, bay leaf and marjoram.

Zalewajka may be served with bread, sliced hard-boiled eggs or on it's own.

And this is more or less how it's supposed to look like :>

Dublin Coddle and Limerick Ham. There are a shit ton of smaller regional methods of preparing food, but they're the only "city" recipes I know of in Ireland.
