^ this.

Don't call out users, contact support

Better to call out users so they can be ashamed and be avoided in the future. Support won't and cannot do anything about this.

his steam id will be banned from steamgifts.com forever.Yes it is quite something.

Well, he did not necessary need membership on SG to do this.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as "calling out", I assumed the guy wasnt even on this site or is long banned (i don't know how to connect a steamgifts account and steam community id). I wasn't interested in bringing attention to the scammer but the scam itself.

If it is though, I'll close the thread. I'm not interested in breaking any rules

it's totally fine to post about the scam, as long as you don't link any profiles ;)

Never send anything without checking.

wait a minute, are we talking about the same guy that has won my giveaway a couples of hours ago? :O

Maybe he has got confused? if not the luck works weirdly

1 decade ago

Yeah, I think the author of this thread shouldn't drop the possibility that it is a one big misunderstanding. The 'thief' sure seems confused about the whole thing of receiving something.

1 decade ago
Permalink

I second that - seeing he won around the same time this whole thing happened it looks like he went to the wrong person for his gift and received the wrong one...

This combined with his text leads me to believe he's a mega uber noob and saw the green banner (that appears on every single page when you win) while on my page, when it resulted from your giveaway. I wonder how many other things he thinks he's won.....

anyway I'm closing this thread.

What a dumbass. If he wanted to scam he should have scammed for something bigger.

What is his profile? Post it so we can all block him.

And this is also the reason why I don't like non-group, non-contributor giveaways. Because of dicks like that.

That...wasn't very wise.

That sucks, but this is why I check every time someone says they won something. I just don't trust people in general.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Um, yea I would think that is pretty common. You should have checked. I'd tell the person "look you won, now be patient I'm busy."

Would be easier to send that chat log to steam admin and say that he did scam you and should have been for someone else. You have the key, so they can easily do a quick check to see what account the key is tied to, no doubt the scammer added it to another steam account he has.

But either way they could help in that regard.

It was Borderlands 2. It says so in the OP.

You could contact steam support and tell them you are having trouble activating a key...
I think you know where this is going.

Well, both parts are to blame, him for scamming and you for not verifying. Nonetheless, pretty unlucky, I have to say. As others have said, contact support, and have him banned hopefully.
