So how many times are searching for the mega bundle thread, or that orphan key thread, or that fabulous Archi Steam tool, or those explaining the overall functioning of SG etc...?

I wonder: why isn't there stick-posts on this forum? Of course the rule of sticky-post is that you have to keep it's number as low as possible so as not to alienate other topics and have a overwhelming first page of sticky.

But I think it'd be great to have a stick-post function for those 5/6 important and recurring threads, especially those amazing ones that constantly list and update the active bundles, or the best explanation and tools post etc...

EDIT: Obviously, as pointed out by comments, it's either up to admins to determine which topics are worth a sticky or up to users to vote for the most important. I'd say both in the reverse order.

If all the threads you mentioned are considered important, then we'll end up having 10 pages of stickied threads. xD

That would be a shitload of spam to scroll through before reaching the new stuff. I say no.

I did, so what? My opinion is still the same. How about you quit being a rude asshole to me for stating my personal opinion?

NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T, when I explicitly state from the get-go "Of course the rule of sticky-post is that you have to keep it's number as low as possible so as not to alienate other topics and have a overwhelming first page of sticky." and you come and comment "That would be a shitload of spam to scroll through" you DIDN'T read the OP.

So coming with negative opinion (nobody gives a shit about) that states exactly the contrary of what's in OP BECAUSE you didn't read, you're being rude.

Dude. Are you kidding me, you're the one who started being rude with your reply to me, not the other way around. I'm generally not an asshole on the forum except when I get a shitty attitude from someone. With that said, I admit going a bit overboard and I apologize for my actions, although that does not excuse yours.

With that out of the way, I did read the OP. My wording (especially the "That would be a shitload of spam to scroll through" part) may have been a bit off, as I consider 5 stickied topics too many, and at most I'd be okay with seeing 2 stickied threads if they were official and important - it's not really much to scroll through, but I prefer to have a clean forum page when browsing.

Like others have mentioned, bookmarks are a good enough alternative. That's what I usually do when I want to save some important threads or pages.

No problem, I apologise too for the rude response if it makes you feel better.

But your post disregarded what I stated only to give a then unrelated answer to the problem, which started me off.

Nothing grave, it's the internet, I have no grudge against you, just stating what had to be to reframe the conversation. Here I even whitelisted you.

I didn't disregard any of your post, and my comment was related to it, but I can understand how it could have been misinterpreted since it seems a bit unlikely for someone to have an opinion such as mine regarding how a forum should be, feel, and look. I barely visit any other forum than this one, and one of the reason for that is how it is managed when it comes to categories and stickied posts - of course I guess I could get used to have stickied threads on the main forum page, but I'd much rather have none if possible. :P

The idea of having some kind of a personal favorite folder (or the ability to sticky threads for personal use) sounds interesting though. But since I already have a pretty nice bookmarks folders setup on my browser already, it wouldn't be extremely necessary for me. It would be particularly neat due to the fact that it would allow users to either have stickied threads or not. That way all parties are satisfied.

And thank you for the whitelist, that is a very nice gesture of you and I have done the same (although I rarely do whitelist giveaways).

There are a LOT of threads worthy of being sticky'd so how would admin decide which ones to sticky and which ones not to to keep low amount of sticky threads?

I don't want this. We already have that one thread people linked to that keeps links to all important threads, just bookmark that one and use it when you need to find something.

Also I'm sure that sooner or later someone will make a script that allows us to sticky threads ourselves. I wouldn't be surprised if that script was already made.

This already had to be made, not everyone wants to constantly see threads that some deem important.

If there are really too many threads then a new Category for them would probably do better, but only if it doesn't let people create new threads there. Plus, people could avoid seeing all of the threads that would be stuck at the top of that Category.

People would also actually have to click to go there, though.

cg doesn't like stickies. I've only seen two threads ever stickied - the current referral one and the one that used to be stickied in the trades section for the guidelines.

It would be great to be able to stick the posts you want. It is a future of the "hide read threads" script but I don't think it ever worked.
