When you want to know what a game is like and you go to YouTube (or wherever), do you prefer footage where the guy talks most of the time, or would you rather the no talk videos, showing straight gameplay and sound only?

Depending on the commentary. If it is kind of interesting and not full on stupidity I'd manage to watch the video. But I prefer there were no comments or at least if it is in multiple parts one part should be just the game and its soundtrack. just to feel the atmosphere. Sometimes that might make you buy it.

I prefer when someone is explaining their experiences with the game while the play. My favourite source for this kind of first impressions content is Giant Bomb's "Quicklooks" and Supergreatfriends "Demo-Friend".

It's it's a story-driven game, then the host should at least remain quiet during cut scenes and the like. I don't mind if they talk about something interesting that occurred (Ie: They died in a terrible way and wish to complain about it.)

If it's not story-driven, then the commentary is what keeps me watching. I want to know what they're doing and why they're doing it, and their experiences as they go.

Myself, I livestream on Twitch. Commentary there is an absolute must; if you aren't entertaining, your viewers leave to seek someone else. YouTube audience is different since it's already occurred and not live (Not considering the recent addition to livestreaming on YouTube though, that feature is in its infancy).

I don't really care what they do, as long as they get straight to the point. If you're going to show gameplay footage, don't beat around the bush with your 30 second intro, just get to the damn point.

I usually search "name-of-game gameplay trailer" or simply watch some screenshots at Gamefaqs

Varies based on what I want, but as long as they shut the hell up during talking sections, I'm okay with whatever.

I normally just watch normal gameplay without commentary. For opinions about the game and whatnot I prefer reading reviews and such.

No talk at all, just gameplay.

There are rare exceptions.

Gameplay only for informative, commentary for entertainment.

This. It shows enough of the gameplay and TB tells about things you can't see in the short(..ish) video.

No Talk for when I'm researching on a game. Talking for when I want a laugh.

No talking if you cannot form coherent sentences or if you stammer all the time (also if you have an annoying voice, which is like 50% of Let's Play folks out there). Just do subtitles if you think we can't live without your unique commentary.

Not trying to sound hostile, but honestly... less is more.

Generally no talking is what I prefer unless they have an interview with the developer along with the gameplay since then you actually get someone who can add insightful commentary instead of just random bullshit that I don't care about.

I don't mind people talking unless he clearly has no interest in the game and is only making the video for views.
