I just thought about this one.
I suggest we have a ... lets say 3 Games on our SG Wishlist(a new option).
Since the names implies Steam GIFTS let's resume to thinking someone will "try" (lottery) to giveaway a game that you want (wishlist) (not force anyone to do a giveaway from your wihlist just ... random luck someone IS doing that giveaway).

There could be several ways to do a lottery in a particular way but for now let's say the ones who attend to a wishlist giveaway should have a bonus on winning odds (let's say a 3x or 2.5x).
That's one way you should get it.
The second way i thought it is:
The site will register the wishlist of all members and :
Count the number of a game which appears in wishlist and for that game should be n entrys (Maybe with a max for 5000 this is subjective) and have reserved slots for those with the game on wishlist (mean you kinda get kicked and refunded if the max number is reached and someone will enter for the wishlist game)

I would like some oppinions but since we are a largely increasing group let's be organised a little.
Thanks for the time accorded!

Stop with these unfair "increased chance" suggestions. One thing that separates SteamGifts from PlayBlinks is that SG is fair (everyone gets equal amount of entries (1) and equal chances).

Whats to stop people just constantly changing their wishlist and forcing and update to get better odds at giveaway and changing it to suit another one a little later

There should be a restriction in "changes" in your wishlist.
Such as one change in a month or for 2 3 months.
My suggestion was for people who want a specific game and have bad odds against someone who just rolls all the games...it is frustrating.
It could be found several ways to do that instead of increasing the odds.

I think then you're making it too complicated, not to mention that there's no way Steamgifts (a site not affiliated with Steam) could control how often you change info on your Steam account.

I don't want to have to read three pages worth of "How this site works" before even entering a giveaway.

Well SG could do it, its just a seperate bit of code that instead of having to sync your account every 7 days, its synced once, and stays like that for 4 weeks or such.
But its a lot of hassle and site testing for something so trivial

Then you ll have some troubles when you enter a group, you buy a game and wanna enter the giveaway for dlc, etc. Think about the moments you had to do the force sync, now think about the 4 weeks lock, it doesnt seems good idea, at least thats my opinion

Fair enough, but even then, my other point still stands. As it is now, as long as I don't own a game, I can enter a giveaway and not worry about anything. If even half of the suggestions like these are implemented, I'd have to read three pages of instructions on how giveaways actually work. That will scare off lots of people, which is the last thing this site needs.

He means that if somone is making a skyrim giveaway, and skyrim is in my wishlist - I will have 3 enteris.
Why shouldnt I put all of the games on steam in my wishlist? just saying

Every day people post suggestions that are really thinly veiled attempts at changing the rules in a way that they think increases their own chance of winning.

The system is good how it is. Yeah, it's hard to win a public giveaway. You think free games should come easy?

It's hard? I've only won a couple, but I just had to click a button to do it...

I think it'd be nice if we EACH get a separate wishlist on SG (so I wouldn't have to go on Steam every time to see everyone's wishlists), but I don't think it should increase your odds.

It'd be nice if we just had it for shenanigans ^_^

I think the best way to increase the odds of winning is creating more giveaways I also like the idea used by http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Superfluffygiveaways

...I don't like the idea of having more chances by any means - the way it is it works well. I look at it from the other side: you raise the odds of a few by lowering the odds of many and I fear the anger of many a lot more than the whining of a few.

You can increase your winning odds to 1:1 with buying those games.
