hi
since its hallowenn sale on steam i wanted to buy fallout 3 since alot of friends recommend it ,but i remember seeing it at the place of my friend and i saw SPECIAL system and all this numbers and steam :) was coming out from the brain distrubing points in deep RPG system has always kept me out of as i dont know what to do i want to add point to all as they are all good which end in me failing miserably so anyone know how this thing work as i really want to get into this genre???

Edit:i play RTS games from turned-based like age of wonders, alpha centauri to RTS like red alert 2, command and conquer tiberum wars and AOE 2 and 3 and i play them just fine i know questioning my intelligence gives u warm fuzzy feeling but i prefer if u dont

This is the kind of question you would see in a 'FAIL/FUNNY' picture collection, but ok.
You just need to add point where you need them.Every skill has something special/different so you can just read the list of available skills at a moment and choose the one you think you need to most :P

I fear that how RPGs (with some very rare exceptions) work. You have to distribute points when you level up or create a character. That's how it works in FO3 as well. But it sounds a bit funny that the only reason why you don't want to play RPGs is that you can't decide how to distribute your skill points.

if you really think the SPECIAL system, is a "deep" game mechanic, you should really just go back to coloring books. remember to edge the borders first!

its a game put points wherever you feel like you cant do it wrong

I like to take out all the points of intelligence and put them in strength and agility. Makes for funny dialogue options since your character is so dumb.

You should try Baldr`s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Drakensang or the first two Fallout(s)- these games are on your taste.
