A year ago I won a giveway with a used humble bundle link. I ingored it and did nothing. Now a year later I was suspended for four weeks for not activating it. I was wrong? Should I have hunted the givewayer on Steam or made a ticket? What should I done? What would you do?

You should have marked it as not received.

If you wanna go for those bonus points you should have also left a message on the giveaway and tell the creator the giftlink was already used. Then there are several options:

  • The creator can give you a new one.
  • You and the creator both agree to delete the giveaway.
  • If the creator doesn't take any further action OR you don't agree to delete the giveaway just leave it "Not received".

Sidenote: If you mark a game as received which you actually didn't get people will assume you are a thief and probably sold the key somewhere or activated it on your main account.

That's what "Not Received" is for...

Yes, it does, after 7 days. The GA creator has a week to provide the winner a key/gift before it can be marked as not received.

True but feedback gets locked in so you can no longer change it after one month.
Afterwards you need to send a ticket to support to change it.

I wonder who has to provide evidence in this case... I would hate it if one of my winners realized they made a mistake after 18 months because they didn't read the rules and Support just took their word for it and changes feedback.

You're right. Thought he meant he couldn't mark it NR a year ago (because he didn't wait) but probably he meant he can't mark it now (because a month has passed).

the system won't let mark as "Not Received"

In this case, you can ask SG support to mark it "Not Received" for you. You have to tell them why, tell them which giveaway it is, and you have to be patient because it takes time ... but they end up doing it.

If the status of that giveaway is still wrong, you should still do it now to settle things correctly.

Any particular reason you thought my reply warranted blacklisting me? 😒

Should have marked the giveaway as not received.
That way the game was not missing on your profile.

And yes... always contact the giveaway creator if there is something wrong with the giveaway.

I see you left no comments on the giveaway at all, no thank you, but also no comment stating the problem.

When you get a game, that can't be activated you first contact a giveaway creator and inform them about your issue. They may want to replace the game, may ask you for permission to delete the giveaway, or may say "I don't care" (or just ignore you). If it's the latter, you wait for one week and mark giveaway as not received.

Did you marked it as received? Or you left it hanging - without marking as received or not received?

They marked it received.
I think that as long as both parties agree, a giveaway can be left as neither "Received" or "Not Received" indefinitely, without breaking the rules

That what I was thinking. Just wanted confirmation from OP if he "ingored it and did nothing" or misused ga feedback.

I get giveaway creators make mistakes. I'm upset the Mods didn't talk me and ask me what happen. The system won't let mark as "Not Received"

LOL You do realize that this site has literally a million users about 10k of them active and roughly a dozen mods?

It's on you to read the rules thoroughly and act accordingly. Don't blame others for your shortcomings!

You're right I misjudged the Mod team. And Should sent a ticket sooner.

No problem ;)

What I forgot to mention is that in the process (so far) no mods were involved. With a successful giveaway everything is automated. You marked the game as received so the creator though everythink is ok. Mods only take action when somebody points out a problem to them.

Reselling keys and links to reseller stores. Do not use our site to resell keys, and do not post offers from stores which allow third parties to resell their keys or gifts. For example, do not ask others if they are interested in buying your leftover keys from a recent bundle purchase, or link to keys for sale on sites such as Kinguin, G2A, or Eneba.

Do not try to circumvent this rule by posting link to website which aggregates offers from the reseller stores. If you want to link to website that shows deals - link to IsThereAnyDeal or other website that list only authorized sellers.

First of all .... read the rules.

"I was suspended for four weeks for not activating it"

If you don't activated only one win you get a 5 days suspension. You get only a longer one with more unactivated wins, in one or more cases.
