L4D2, because it has L4D1 campaigns on it at the same price (i purchased the two games, played the first one with a crappy PC and now i'm playing the second one with a better PC). If i were you, i wouldn't even care if it's the Low Violence Version, but that's me.

L4D1 campaigns of L4D2 have more guns and more special zombies, but i think it's better than L4D1.

The only difference I can think of is the different special infected

I mean survival mode its better on l4d1 ofc. The shotgun it's different (better), and there is actually really PRO people playing on there. L4d2 only has glitchers on survival mode instead.

How do you become a pro player for l4d?

Hate everything about L4D2 and circle-jerk with the tiny community who still plays a dead game.

They both have their pros and cons. I think overall L4D2 is better, because of the variety in weapons and stuff, but I do think that L4D1 was much better with the special infected. I personally believe that the charger/jockey are pointless and the spitter is just complete bs, considering it spawns if you sit still for 5 seconds (maybe not literally but you get my point).
Plus I don't think L4D1 is on the workshop, and L4D2 comes with all of the L4D1 maps for free. So definitely L4D2.

There's also an uncut mod somewhere that fixes it.

Don't bother with Left 4 Dead 1. Left 4 Dead 2 has all of its content (all of the maps from L4D1, all of the weapons, all of the infected.

Yes, I could argue till the end of the days, that Left 4 Dead 1 was in my mind a better game, because more infected, more weapons etc. kind of f***** the original playstyle of a game. That original campaigns are designed much better and that there is a huge advantage in L4D1 having 2 separate maps - one for campaign and other for versus. That the viewmodels for weapons are awful in L4D2 (consolish huge)... but - you know what? It doesn't matter much - L4D1 community is pretty much dead... and playing it alone is an awful idea. So... just get L4D2.

totally agree the first person perspective view of the weapon your character is holding is too close in left 4 dead 2

Scoring was terrible. All that effort for <100 points because I dropped a dumpster down the ladder.

Just pretty much this. I personally think L4D1 was better. But I'm guessing it's pretty dead, so yea.

+1 for Left 4 Dead 2, it has all of L4D1's campaigns included for the same price, plus it's newer and still being actively supported, seems like a no-brainer to me.

left 4 dead is better because the first person perspective view of the weapon your character is holding is too close in left 4 dead 2

anyways there is no reason to buy left 4 dead since everything was ported to left 4 dead 2

P.S. did valve for the july 2, 2013 left 4 dead 2 update, include graphics improvements for left 4 dead 2?

I swear they did do some sort of update. I was forced to do an entirely new download of the whole thing for no reason when I tried launching the game...

You can open console and change the FoV. L4D2 is superior.

If you are worried about your country having low violence (no blood) there is a steamworks mod that add more gore than whats in the default game to L4D2. Unfortunately atm because of the recent game update its not working properly, but should not take long for the creator to update it or you could update it yourself.

2 has all of the campaigns of 1 at this point so even if it is the low violence version it seems clearly superior

I don't know in which country you live, but the low violence version here in Germany is absolutely terrible. No blood, no dismemberment and worst of all zombies disappear (fade out) immediately when you kill them. Ridiculous. And you can't get rid of it once you've bought it since it's forever tied to your Steam account. Maybe the version in your country is different and only reduces gore by a small amount, but if it's even a bit similar to the low violence version where I live then DON'T (sorry for caps, but this definitely deserves caps) buy it.

Try to get the normal version from someone else who lives in a country that doesn't cripple games so they can't even be recognized anymore.

EDIT: And no, there is no mod or ini hack that enables you to play the uncut version, at least not in multiplayer (and that's what L4D is about).

L4d2, there's a few now ingame mods that can make it more l4d1 like (less special infected, items etc...) and the game works on linux now too.
